Hey guys so first off sorry for starting another thread like this but I searched the form wide and couldn't find any answers that I needed.

I have a JTD sport s that is getting a three and a half inch metal cloak game changer lift with 38x12.5x17. i spoke with medical cloak about the needed backspacing for Wheels and they told me Max would be 4 in. To not rub.

So I have a few concerns one is that it's extremely hard to find Wheels with 4 inch backspacing for whatever reason. And two I've looked all over the forum to try and find pictures of what 4 inches of backspacing would look like because I'm very worried that It would stick out too far I like a little bit of the wheel sticking out but I don't want that super wide skateboard look where your damn tires look wider then the jeep is tall. I also do plan to do the quake or aal fender chop kit so would that give me more room on what back space I can have? Can anybody with a little more experience with wheels and tires shoot off any information they may have it would be greatly appreciated.

why not just use a wheel spacer, appropriately applied and youll have no issues. ive used them for years now and havent looked back on my wrangler JL.

In all honestly, I have never used them so I really haven't looked into them and don't know much about them. I have heard stories of people having issues with them offroad though so I have always not really considered them.

38" tires?

So I assume then that you're getting new wheels too that are 17x8.5" ? I would not run 38x12.50 on the stock 17x7.5" wheels. The wheels are too narrow. You really need at least a 8.5" width wheel, and 9.0 to 10.0 width would work also.

In that case (8.5" wide wheel) you would be at 4.75" backspace with a 0mm offset. A -18mm offset would put you at 4.00" backspace.

Personally I would never run negative offset on a JT or JL. I went the opposite direction and did +12mm offset, and honestly what I wanted was +18mm. I still have tire sticking out past the fenders.

I would reconsider the lift you have chosen and get one with bent control arms instead of straight which are why you have to use wheels with a big negative offset that extend far beyond the fenders.

Metal cloaks front lowers are bent.

Yes I am looking at buying new wheels that's the purpose of the thread as I cant seem to find a lot of options.

I don't mind the wheels sticking out some I actually prefer the look I just don't want have the wheel out or that skateboard look.

at this point, I may just go with something with 4.5 or 4.25 and figure it out from there be it having to do a different fender set up or something like that.

Where does the tire hit with more positive offset wheels than what they specify?
from what they said its looking like the fender and inner fender so I may just bite the bullet and get a 4.5 or so back space and do a different fender setup

If memory serves, on the metalcloak, it uses offset (outboard) lower shock mounts, forcing a 4.5" or less backspace.

Clayton uses a straight lower control alarm forcing the same backspace recommendation..

also someone please tell me if I am wrong on this, the rubi Axles are an inch longer on each side and can use 4.5 in backspace then will the tire on a sport with 4in backspace sit half an inch in from where they are positioned on a rubi with 4.5? if so I may actually be ok with it because the guys I have seen with the rubis this lift and the 4.5 look great.

Might try this.

https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

I focused more on offset than backspace when choosing wheels. Stock Rubicon uses i think a +44 offset. I went with an AEV with +25 offset because I wanted less poke. I would think you could accomplish what you want with a 0 or any negative offset.

Method 701 17x8.5 0 offset 38x13.50x17….tires should be on a 9inch wide wheel to be perfect but tire manufacturers said from 8.5-10.. didn’t want them to stick out or rub..

Those look great but appear to stick out at least a couple inches.

They are 2 at best… any less offset they would rub on control arms at full lock…it was a compromise for me..
