I have a 2022 Gladiator Willys with the V6 and the six speed. Pulling a 5x8 trailer with only a golf cart on it I have to run in 4th gear to maintain highway speed. I get around 10 mpg. Does anyone know if one of the plug in chips will give me the hp I need for pulling a trailer?

I've heard good things about the Pedal Commander which essentially just controls the throttle body response which could potentially help

4th really seems about right. 5th and 6th are overdrive. 4th is 1:1, and equivalent to 6th in the automatic. That's about where I'd expect it to be. I don't tow with mine, but I do climb mountains in western MD and PA a lot. Not a lot of altitude, but steep inclines. 4th is about right under load, especially with the 3.73 final drive and the larger tires on a Willys vs a Sport.

Since the motor is NA, I'd be surprised if there's a whole lot left to give from a chip, and it's probably not worth it for the minimal gains vs warranty. If it were turbo, I'd be singing a different tune. A pedal commander or other throttle controller will help with throttle input, but if you're flooring it and still need to be in 4th, it won't do anything for you.
The gearing is more like a 5 speed with an extra gear than it is like a more typical 6 speed. 3rd, 4th, and maybe 5th under perfect conditions will be home for you under load, depending on speed and incline. You won't see 6th under load.

Just a regular plug in chip? No.

Tuning with a plug in system? Yes. Except, yours won't accept tuning. Jeep screwed everyone on that starting mid 2021.

Now a Pedal Commander or such will improve your throttle response and do away with the lag between pushing the pedal and the engine responding.

I’m getting 12-14 mpg pulling my 3000 lb teardrop. I shift manually pulling the trailer. On interstate I run in 7 gear around 65 mph.

Stay away from the Pedal Commander. There are tons of stories it causing issues with the throttle and when it happens it causes the throttle to go full power. It draws it's power from the throttle signal. If you go with anything go with the Pedal Commander. Check out this video.

I have this in my truck. It was pretty easy to plug in as well. It doesn't do anything for hp and wouldn't help with towing. It basically either retards or advances the throttle delay. Kind of like the difference in having a "hair trigger" on a gun or one that requires more poundage to pull.

I own a medium size printing company.
Chips / tuning are really best for supercharged and turbo motors. Naturally aspirated engines don't really respond much to tuning. I don't even bother with my stuff unless it's turbo'd. Then I'm all over it.

If there was a supercharger that would work correctly and not destroy my engine I would already have it.
