But why? Police spotlights are meant for a purpose, such as to direct a light toward a dark car or illuminate a suspect for a lineup. Other than the gimmick-ness of it, there's no real benefit. Most modern police cars no longer have the directable spotlights anymore, either.

For me at least, I think a spot light would be useful for night crawling, especially to direct the spot light to where you are going to see any obstacles in your way. It might not be used often but thought it would be a useful tool when needed.

for night crawling the front directed lights on cowl and bumber are sufficient for forward light. Something that illuminates the underbody and sliders would be useful

The pillar ones are nice for trying to find stuff to the side of a road, house numbers or trail. It would be good to spot out a line or hill climb that was to the driver front quarter without holding a searchlight out your window.

While they work great. It’s not a lifetime part. The gears strip, the handles slip and they seize or become totally floppy. They will bounce around after awhile if you do a lot of dirt roads or highway speeds. If they take a good hit from a branch most likely will need to rebuild something.

Also you can turn your headlights off and pretend you are a motorcycle.

If you were only using it very intermittently then this would be a better route, especially if you want to keep the highest resale value without having to replace your aluminum windshield frame, or of you don't want to add that one more leak....

There is a plethora of very good flashlights and hand held spots that work well which are not visual warts when not in use. M2c.

Yup that's a Golight. I use them often. I don't use one on my gladiator but if I was the op, this is what I'd buy. Only problem is sometimes using them in multiples their programming can go hay wire and a remote will control others and vice versa
