Union craftsman are certified via State and National codes, they are trained by their Local Union on what those codes are and how to work within them in their jurisdiction.

They are licensed (where applicable) by the State or National organization that covers their specific Trade or skill. Be it a Government body or recognized organization.

Not all Trades are licensed by the Government.

And no, you didn't say a THING about Government, you said the Union certifies its Members by Union standards.

The Union has no certification standards and doesn't certify it's Members. It trains said Members to know and be able to work within the Codes established by State and Federal Agencies.

If you're going to try and argue for the Union cause, do yourself and all your Union Brothers a favor and educate yourself instead of spewing the hateful rhetoric that your Union officials spew. There is a LOT of good Unions do, but your counterpoints just reinforce everyone's negative feelings about Unions.
