The good stuff a quality shop coats is nothing at all like paint. It's not paint without solvent, it's a polymer resin. Epoxy and polyester are typical resins.
This makes a ton of sense, thanks for the clarification. I was told it was paint and only the superior process differed, but I've felt stuff which was powered that seemed more like a tough plastic/resin dip which baffled me.

The filter in my shop's minisplit system works on electro-static principals. It's not a fine filter, not paper, it's a weave of a plastic or nylon. And It's 30' away from where I shoot powder, and it's a good 13' above the floor.
After I shoot powder a couple of times, I have to climb a ladder and pull that filter and clean it. It's attracted the powder in the air.

I can spray a lot of primer (like a whole car) or paint small items in my shop and it doesn't end up in the filter up there.

That's why I want a spot I can dedicate to powder, blasting and such. It gets all over cars and tools and equipment.

So just a small update, what I'm hearing from most shops is $550.

I did send a message to one business and got a quote for $250, BUT, it looks like he's running it out of his garage. I saw some photos and it looks like he usually coats dirt bike parts and they seem like they're good quality, I'm very tempted to give him a shot.

What do you guys think? Worth a shot? The coatings look good from pics, but pic's can hide a lot of flaws.

I'd contact one of his customers......... and/or see the parts in person.

Sometimes pictures are like the pics you see of that big yummy burger on TV...............

May do decent work, but with quality powders? Can he handle the larger parts?

He may be ok, but sometimes you get what you pay for.
