What power steering fluid do you use If you need to top off the reservoir? I heard that you're shouldn't mix 2 types of fluid, so do you need to drain the fluid completely if you don't use Mopar steering fluid?

Except he correctly answered it. The original first reply is the wrong fluid.
Good catch.
I was going to post the bit from the book - and my amazon link but it's not needed.

That's way cheaper than buying from the dealer
A service writer gave me most of a bottle - I went back a couple of days after they had replaced the steering gear on my 2020 and told them - hey, the reservoir is low......
The guy went to parts, grabbed a bottle, filled the reservoir to line, and handed me the rest of the bottle. No more often than I ever need to add PS fluid to anything, it's going to last me a long time.
Funny thing - I had already bought a bottle on Amazon (thus the photo above) but figured they did the work, they should fill it up. I was there anyway so it wasn't a special trip. So now I have a bottle and a half. I'll have to keep buying Jeeps for the rest of my life in order to use and not waste it.

That sounds like me: I traded in my pickup for a new one because the battery was dead.

Hootbro caught the mistake that existed in front of our faces for a year - to reinforce what he's saying, here it is again -

Jeep Gladiator Power steering fluid question 1685988460629

These are EHPS - ElectroHydraulic Power Steering.
Frankly, is the cost difference between the proper spec fluid and cheap stuff worth any risk or hassle or loss of warranty?
Really? Over a few bucks on a vehicle that costs a huge chunk of 1 year's salary for many Americans?

The way most jeep dealers like to handle warranty... abso-f***ing-lutely not. Sticking with OE. Or aftermarket MATCH, not equivalent, if in a dire pinch.

Aftermarket match IS the equivalent. Equivalent means it has to match those specs. A match also meets those specs. It's not an equivalent if it doesn't match the specs.
Some common synonyms of equivalent are equal, identical, same
equal to or having the same effect as something else

UNLESS we are talking about MATH - then they aren't the same thing.
You can't interchange the terms in algebra.

Burp the air out of it and you’ll use up that half bottle. 😉

Actually, still have most of the bottle. The reservoir never did go down again.
And this 2022 - it's still where it belongs.
Other than the 2020 after they replaced the steering gear the second time, I've never had to add any to a Jeep. And on the 2020, it was only the second gear replacement that any had to be added. It didn't take a lot.
Seems odd to me others have had any problem. Maybe dealerships here actually prep things LOL
