Anywhere within a few hours drive of a neighboring country is a target area. There was a brief rash of Jeep thefts about an hour north of LA a couple months ago.
It seems the southern border is the common theme per the replies. I live within eyesight of the Canadian border, and per the CBC news I pick up on FM, Vancouver has a thriving grand theft auto scene. That doesn’t seem to have bled over the border as much though. From what I’ve heard the Vancouver syndicate makes use of the port facilities to get lifted vehicles into containers and out of the country ASAP.

You’d think the CBP checking license and registration to confirm ownership would be standard procedure. It’s certainly not up north, though on the southern end it would seem prudent.

Here me out (but don't steal my IP!) - An arm that locks to the driveshaft, with a spike on the end, so it punctures the fuel tank when the thief tries to drive off.
I want to be the fist to proclaim, they tried to steal it and failed!

…but it burned to the ground with a fuel leak. Oops. Still screwed.

All Jeep has to do is to enable "starter interrupt" through the existing Uconnect system. This prevents the vehicle from starting after it is shut off. You just call Jeep and give them your information same as you do for stolen vehicle tracking.

Never did.
Enlighten me please. I have had a 2500 stolen about a decade ago but never fussed much except to collect the insurance check. Clubs always seemed like a PITA to remove. I figured that the mere sight was enough?
Houston PD was too lazy to come and look at the security footage or take a report. Had to do it over the phone. They found the truck missing the motor, transfer case, and transmission. Called me to tell me I could come get it. They spent the next 3 years sending me a letter in the mail asking if "I" had found the vehicle. As a former LEO I can honestly say they are the worst!

Thieves will take a saw to the wheel and cut thru it then remove the club. Slows them down a bit but honestly maybe 30 seconds. A cordless sawzall will go thru a wheel pretty quick.

wow, talk about adding insult to injury: the police asking YOU if you found your vehicle.

My youngest stepson lives in NM. We're going to visit right after Christmas.
Mine hasn't been stolen yet but I don't go to certain places in town with my Jeeps.
That's what the '13 Impala is for, no one wants that!

All of the Jeeps here are stolen out of driveways. Suburb with 1 million dollar 'starter homes', 2 million dollar 2 story houses.

There’s no question that the right neighborhoods are targeted. In our old neighborhood in Florida, you couldn’t leave your garage door open for 10 minutes in broad daylight. People would walk right in and grab tools and whatever they could carry. You could be on the other side of the house. Vehicles were never stored in driveways if you wanted to keep them. And it was a neighbors on the nicer side. People came to those neighborhoods knowing there were cars to take.

I don't park mine in the driveway. Also, we don't live that close to the border. People suck!

I was thinking the same but the noise? I've known a couple car thieves (professionally) and stealth was their greatest asset. I only mentioned the Club because it's cheap, I've owned one for years but never used it. Aways just seemed like a huge PITA. You would really have to "want" my Jeep.
