Puting a cap on the back of a gladiator

I have a 2020 Gladiator and am trying to find a cheap way to put a cap on the back of it. All the ones online are thousands of dollars. Just wondering if anyone has done any conversiions from another truck cap that fits a gladiator.

I think I remember seeing someone that someone took a cap from another truck and it worked with some minor fitting. I want to see it was a Leer cap but I don't remember what truck it was from. I also want a cap for mine and got a little bit of sticker shock from some of the offerings out there. I swear anything labeled "Gladiator" is marked up at least 50%.

In 2019, before there were any reasonably priced gladiator bed covers, some people were somehow using Colorado covers. I can’t see how a cap would work though with the Colorado bed being 2” longer. It’s a Tacoma bed also only 5’ even vs 5’2”?

Watch FB marketplace or CL for toppers. I see a few used ones pretty regularly for sale. Both hard and soft toppers.

I bit the bullet and ordered a nice one after hunting for 2yr. You could try the alibaba route for ~$1k delivered

Interesting, not my style but depending on your needs may work for you. I've also been looking for over a year for a used ARE but haven't have much luck finding a match for my color.

in Georgia, I was quoted $2800 for a Ranch brand topper, looks very similar to an ARE.

I’m in the same boat and am leaning heavily towards the Alibaba route. All my buddies run Tacomas and they got their metal caps for less than $1250 used. The Gladiator tax is real

I broke down and bought a nice, used, Leer for $3500. Local Leer dealer quoted me $4200 for new. ARE was quoted at $3000, but their quality at the time was not the best. That was 3 years ago. If you do a search on here, (and you are mechanically inclined), there’s a couple folks who have modified shells to fit.

If you have a soft top on your Gladiator some of the fiberglass caps interfere with the Gladiator roof. You have more cap options if your Gladiator has a hard top.

I went through this for awhile when I bought my 24. I ended up buying one for 2000 it was textured and matched my black top. An ARE Style and I'm really happy with it. It fits perfectly and it's the same height as my cab. I'm not sure you're going to get that with a cap made for another truck. I also found some that were a little bit cheaper than 2000 after I bought mine. If you don't have the patience or you don't want to put out a little extra money so that it fits your truck just right, roll the dice. Up to you
