I have a 2023 Gladiator Rubicon, and I notice when I stop, and when the auto start/stop kicks engages, when I start accelerating I can hear the starter spinning just as if I were starting it myself first thing in the morning. Is this normal? The reason why I ask, is that my wife's Wrangler Rubicon does not do this. When you accelerate in her vehicle, the engine seems to just start back up automatically, and you don't hear the starter at all.

My advise; Your rig should be under warranty; take back to dealership and demonstrate the condition.

The auto start stop will work, but it does take some getting used to. my KL had driven me crazy for like a month until I figured it out.

What you wanna do is take your foot off the break let the engine start takes about a second second and a half and then press the accelerator. Don’t take your foot off to break and then you can just jam on the Gas. It’s not gonna work right.

The other thing is, if you can hear the starter motor still spinning after the engine is already started. There is a problem you should go to the dealer.

The starter does engage as with a cold start (unlike Etorque or 4xe) however, it is really fast and the starter should wind down and brake fast - it should be stopped by the time you react and hit the gas.
mine barely turns over and it's started and the starter hasn't turned much at all. it's quiet by the time I start moving.

Get it to a dealer and at least get your concerns on record - a starter hanging isn't normal and if you hear that starter wind down even in a cold start - you could have an issue. These starters just don't keep on spinning once disengaged.
Charles can of course smack and correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe you have a bad solenoid. Should be under warranty.

Solenoid engages, spring pressure disengages.
Solenoid would be in question if it didn't fully engage or ground indicating partial engagement but if it's hanging, it might be a drive issue or, and I can't imagine this on a Pentastar - misaligned.
Dirty, yeah.
These aren't that much different from the 4.0 starters in a lot of ways.

It's small/compact, left side, near the left cat, above front driveshaft. Permanent magnet type.

The auto start is executed exactly the same way that the regular start is, but of course the computer pushes the button for you. It may start ever so slightly quicker since it's warmed up.

Exactly. Even better because the ECM has tracked the last injector firing, position of each piston and so on. It's a fast, warm start.
