Test drove both the Mojave and the Rubicon. They were priced exactly the same.
  • I was expecting the suspension on the Mojave to feel cushier but, to my surprise, the suspension on the Rubicon felt cushier to my aging ass
Check tire pressures on any test drive.
Dealers keep all of them pumped up like balloons to avoid having a TPMS warning light come on during a test drive. Even the 37 PSI on the door jamb is stupid for the factory 33's.
33 is about right for those tires.

Yes. All vehicles I test drove had their tires at 33 PSI.

The dealer delivered my Gladiator with all tires at 36 PSI; the Jeep rides just as smoothly.

I've gotten as low as 14 mpg while driving around the Ruidoso, NM mountains during a Thanksgiving blizzard using different 4WD options and the rear locker all the way up to 19mpg in 2WD going 70mph on Texas Interstate Highways. For city driving my Mojave seems to fluctuate between 15.5-17mpg depending how much driving I'm doing along city streets vs State Highways.

For some reason in middle Tennessee I seem to stay close to 16-16.5mpg for day-to-day driving no matter what. I'm not sure if the elevation, variations in terrain (more roads on hills in TN than in TX) or the relatively more extreme weather variations and humid have anything to do with this.

I definitely love all the lifted large tire Mojaves I see. I won't be doing either tho. My offroad use in California is 100% desert and I believe the factory configuration will outperform any lifted, larger tire Mojave.

Never have had a need for what larger tires and lift provide....better rock crawling. Lifting a Mojave will only be a detriment to hauling ass in the desert here in SoCal.
Drug the rockrail hard going up to the reward mine and had to turn around at 1 wash as the stock departure angle would have had us stuck for sure. I find it hauls ass even better in the desert now with the 37s and 2" lift as the tires help much more in absorbing the washboards. The Mojave will never be our rock rig, the JLUR on 39s with full belly skids is much better there. But even in the desert I found myself wanting more clearance stock.

Got my first tank refill: averaged 16.5 MPG in roughly 50% city/50% freeway. Which jives with what most of you report.

Hope it improves slightly as the engine breaks in.

PS - the truck had 37 miles on the odometer when I picked it up.

I’m getting 17-18 mpg around town 19-20 on the highway and 14-15 on the beach (4 hi) on 35” bfg ats. Admittedly I keep my foot out of it due to immortal tourists crossing A1A anywhere any time.

I’m averaging around 15-17.5 overall since I got mine late October…mostly driving in central PA. Stock setup outside of steps and K&N air filter. Hoping mpg will bump up a little more after engine break in but definitely didn’t buy for fuel efficiency! I’ve never had a vehicle that the mpg on the window sticker matched what I got in city/highway driving scenarios.

Just got a 23 Mojave (heavily discounted as well) and was getting about 18 with original wheels and tires. But I didn't go high rpm for the first 1K miles. Now, with the 3.5' lift and 35s, I get about 16-17.

Purchased a 23 Mojave in mid September . It currently has a little over 2400 miles on the odometer.

The best I have got to date is 18.38 and the worst is 15.12. I compute the mileage at every fill-up and found the “computer” mileage is generally about .35% optimistic. All Mojaves have 4:10 gears and that coupled with “winter blend” fuel in my area leads to decreased mileage. As others have said don’t believe the EPA lie on the window sticker.

I have a 21 that was mostly stock until I added 35's probably a year or less ago (it didnt change much). I have tracked every tank of gas I have ever put through the truck.
My average - 15 mpg.
I drive slow as heck, I always try and make sure its in 8th on the highway, coast every chance I get etc.
Why is it crap? I do lots of short trips and our highway setup locally is not really setup for mpg's. Its accelerate and by the time you get to 55 mph its time for another red light. One way is just enough of an incline you cant use 8th.

I'm in Texas. If I keep it sub 70 mph I can get about 20 but I average about 18 on stock 33s. But IMHO you don't buy these for the mpgs. It's miles of smiles for me!

Got it.

That's what I figured.

My 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-Road got 15/19 MPG. So roughly the same then.
So I'm a little late to the party but here are some of my thoughts. I too had a Tacoma, 2017 Sport 4X4, that I got rid of before I bought my Mojave. I usually got slightly over 20 mpg regardless of city or hwy driving. I didn't like the shifting, it was not comfortable on trips and the legroom for family passengers in the rear was terrible. Since I got the Mojave in October, I have been pleased with everything except the gas mileage. I'm getting between 17-18 mpg on average but like you I am hoping that will increase after the engine breaks in and the summer fuel mix comes back. I am liking the way it drives and handles. It's roomier inside and there is plenty of legroom in the back for my family. The tech package is much better than the Tacoma. I just got back from a 4 day 10 hour round trip drive and was comfortable the entire trip. Not once did I have to move around in the seat to get more comfortable. I knew from some research that the mileage would not be as good but I accepted that before I made the purchase and I love my new first ever jeep.

My 2021 Mojave with stock wheels, suspension, and bumpers can get 23 MPG on the highway with ideal conditions. Since I added a canopy, 20 is more typical. In the city with traffic, 13 or 14 MPG is typical.
