It's my understanding that white rubber is not as tough as the regular sidewall and will damage easier. That could be a problem on a Jeep.
Nope, that's really old tech when they made the lettering in different ways. Before carbon black is added, the rubber is white, so they used to let that show through, and the white letters may not have been "as tough" as the black, but these days, it doesn't matter. They'll get scraped up and marred in the rocks, but not less strong as modern RWL are made using different materials and methods than years ago. (two cousins worked at Bridgestone/Firestone)

I bought my Glad used and it had all black mud tires on black rims. To me that’s about the ugliest combination you can choose. ( I of the beholder ). Reminds me of the sixties when the “cool” kids removed hubcaps. So I replaced the tires with quieter road tires and chose the white lettering. I like the look.

I vote for white letter like my Grabber ATX as I have a retro style build. My problem is now they don't make them anymore in a 37x12.50x17. I currently have 35's but will goto 37's in the coming months. So now my real only choice is KO2's (can't wait another 18 months for KO3's in May 2026) or Gladiator X Comp XT's but they are on national backorder.
