Nope, that's really old tech when they made the lettering in different ways. Before carbon black is added, the rubber is white, so they used to let that show through, and the white letters may not have been "as tough" as the black, but these days, it doesn't matter. They'll get scraped up and marred in the rocks, but not less strong as modern RWL are made using different materials and methods than years ago. (two cousins worked at Bridgestone/Firestone)It's my understanding that white rubber is not as tough as the regular sidewall and will damage easier. That could be a problem on a Jeep.
