This is mine from a while ago. It hasn't been doing it much anymore with my 38" pats and 5.13 gears. It did it a lot when I had my 35" Duratracs and 3.73 gears on my M/T. I keep thinking it could be the inner liners but idk.

Wow, i dont know if thats detonation. If it is, its much worse than what i occasionally hear. What did the dealer say it was? Did you get it resolved?

They blamed it on my track bar being loose. :CWL:

So you're still driving it like that?
It doesn't really do it anymore. Something that happens as rare as that.. the dealer will never be able to diagnose. I have a better chance of winning the lottery.

I just returned from my first visit to the dealer to address this problem. The tech was unable to recreate the problem, so I had the service advisor ride along. Naturally, the rattle was less pronounced because the Jeep wasn't fully up to oil temp (and it was a fairly flat road). He did agree that he heard the noise and now I've got another appointment on Monday morning for a more experienced tech to look at it.

The worst part: when I left the dealer and drove home, the rattle was arguably worse than it's ever been. Super frustrating....

That's how they should know it's not normal. When you drive before it reaches operating temperature it's perfectly silent but when it reaches operating temp it starts. Usually only takes about 10 mins for it to reach operating temperature, just let him drive it longer than or let it idle for 10 mins.

Hmmm i just reversed into my garage and i smell a hint of eggs. Stuck my nose near the exhaust and thats where its coming from. Smh, i wonder if this is all related? Can the catalytic converter be going bad at 6k miles???? Really? So 3 causes of egg smell, cat going bad, transmission fluid leaking somewhere or a faulty fuel pump, correct? I hope this is all related ? but no check engine light??

Rotten egg smell - if that's what you mean - used to be converter (cat) but I've not smelled it on a newer vehicle in years.
I can run either of our Jeeps in the garage for a couple of minutes and honestly not smell anything odd at all. Doesn't even smell much like exhaust, IMO.
Faulty fuel pump? Not eggs. not sure how a fuel pump would smell like anything but gas. Transmission fluid? Very different smell, IMO. Pretty easy to distinguish that from oil, diff lube, gas or other things.
What I consider the "egg smell" is more of a sulfur smell.

Can failing fuel pressure sensor cause detonation?

I'd expect a failing sensor to trigger errors - either transient or if consistent, enough to trigger a light.
Can't see a correlation with detonation - which is a timing/heat/pressure issue.
Lean burning causes overheating but that's more of an old-school issue with carburetors.
