Oh it wheels. Similar to the picture you just posted ;). Like I said, I drive a lot on trails, sand and snow. I just know my limits and choose to avoid trails that I'm not mentally or physically equipped to handle. It's why the Mojave fits our lifestyle. It is definitely not a pavement princess.
I push the limits more than most. Definitely not telling anyone they have to do the same. I do try to keep the paint and sheetmetal nice but don't mind beating up the bumpers and sliders if need be. Different strokes so they say.

You can have a street legal ā€˜trail rig’….and not trailer it. A 2nd vehicle…..whether its 10 years old or 4 years old. With or without A/C… whatever you want.

Breakage occurs whether you’re in a new vehicle or an old one…buggy or daily driver. Things can break at anytime and on any trail at anytime.

Both your daily driver OR a trail rig (2nd vehicle) would need to be towed back home. The difference…. You can leave the trail rig sit in your driveway while you’re able to drive to work on Monday.

If you have another vehicle at home that’ll get you to work, then your JT becomes the dedicated ā€˜trail rig’…… and you can afford to let it SIT while you fix it……
the problem lies in when you have multiply "trail rigs"....
one is just a build that probably has zero chance of finishing , a Full size occupys a space in the driveway swear you are gona SAS, and because, some shinny new thing you dragged home is on your trailer. ..... the buggy is outback sitting and since you decided the best option was wheeling the tow rig that you just just put a lift, tires, and front locker in.......
-its a big circle

And this cycle is why we are down to the wife's 2022 JLUR built for rocks and my 2023 JTM built for the desert. Obviously I'll still take the wrong one for the wrong job at times but both are fully maintained and ready to go at all times.

🤣 We never had that problem…. we couldn’t afford but ONE play toy back then.
Our first house was a 2 car garage with trail rig (street legal YJ), & hubbys car. Trailer sat on the street & tow rig in the driveway.

Now? I wished we had a big property with a big barn (as a garage)….. We can afford it now. šŸ˜† But instead…. the 3 car garage keeps us in-check so we don’t over-spend on all those projects & toys. The boat, JT, and M4 is our happy place. šŸ˜Ž Ain’t got enough time to enjoy more toys.

Ask me again after we retire…… šŸ¤”šŸ˜

Surprised that the top mount isn't ripped off.
This is the first time seeing a swaybar end link snap like that! But that top mount definitely looks bent though 😳 Could this be due to maybe the bumpstops are too short and the spring compressed too much snapping the end link?

It is a little bent. I have some Metal Cloak reinforcements arriving tomorrow. Going to try to bend it back as best as I can and get the new link installed.

Our JT has a nice bent bumper from a deer that unalived itself. Someday I'll put a new bumper on it.
That was exactly why I got a aftermarket bumper.... deer. Secondary was winch mounting.
I've done the trail rig but still street legalish. ;) well insurance ect wise. That I D/D and drove to trails but my drive to work was less than 5 miles round trip. When I bought my 90XJ. It would have been a great D/D and long trip vehicle before mud, rocks, swamp, lift, lockers, ect ect. Forward change in life events career ect, then needing to drive several hundred miles a month trips. Later daily drive of 50 miles or more for work, other b.s. the oh s### I got to be able to get to work dependable changes priorities. So not beating the snot out of paycheck getting device, along with lower expendable income and not many close by trails or buddies to go. So small 4 wheeler and trailer cheap to maintain and fix plus still way home and work. Fun going places many on larger 4 wheelers got stuck trying.
Plus many more areas were close to me then. Now, not so much the side by side crew have really #### up some places to Now buggies only.

If that's how you define trail rig sure. My JT has always been that as I have a company car for work. It also gets roadtripped 600 miles each way to our AZ property every 4-6weeks. Is our home depot run vehicle. We have built an entire cabin using this truck. To me a dedicated trail rig is just that. Not a roadtripped, work truck that also gets wheeled. In that case even the wife's JLUR is a trail rig as she could drive the JT to work if she broke something on it. My idea of a trail rig is a batter you don't care if you rub it on trees or drag the side down a rock. Be it buggy or built tj or xj or Sammy. It's built to the point is not road friendly even if it can be driven on the street. Funny you mention no AC. Definitely not driving that rig through the desert on the way to Moab or even wheeling it there in the summer.
yep the moment I bought a trailer my sammy's drivability fell off even if I did the ride to the trail ... once its not planed to really drive you lose a connection
