If I'm not mistaken, rr wheel is the main drive wheel. Therefore, that wheel would end up with most of the torque before distributed to both sides.this would result in parts on that side wearing out sooner, pending on how u drive and given mods.
Not true.....an open differential supplies equal torque to both axles. The right rear is usually the first tire to unload so it spins. Its still only supplied 50% of the torque though.

That is more of what I meant. Therefore making it the main drive wheel until power is distributed

There is no "main drive wheel". They are equal at all times. The one that breaks loose is limiting the one with the traction. The weak limiting member of the team if you will......

Brought my pavement princess in for an inspection and the passengers side rear axle was leaking. Had to wait over a month to get an appointment at the dealer and it took them a week and a half to do the repair.

That’s quite the process. It does seem like parts are increasingly on b/o again, but over a week to complete the repair? Something’s wrong there

Even if they replaced the whole axle assembly - differential and all, the entire unit, left rotor to right rotor and all in between, it shouldn't take that long. I wonder if they ran into trouble, got the wrong parts, or maybe were missing some parts or something, but even a guy who is mechanically inclined using floor jacks, jack stands and his garage should be able to swap one of these before supper time.

I don't get why this repair is so difficult/time consuming for the dealers. I could probably pull it off in less than 1 hour plus cleaning for big oil leakers and I have axle bearing/seal kits on the shelf even in my small norcal shop?

I've done JK's in 25 mins back when National had a seal issue and EVERY JK I had regeared insde of about 1 year came back with an axle seal leak or two.

They replace the axle assembly - so it's even easier. Pull caliper, rotor, 4 nuts/bolts, slide axle out, insert new axle (with seal and bearing already installed) and put it together.

So they don't even need to remove a bearing and press a new one on. The replacement is an assembly.

These aren't much different than the 2004 WJ Dana axle I did not long ago - the worst part was cleaning all the grease off of things. And I didn't have the advantage a Jeep dealer shop does - I did have to replace the bearing and seal. The axle comes to them ready to install.
And in the cases where Jeep says "replace the WHOLE thing", (the entire axle and differential assembly) it's not that big a deal.

The only other thing I can think of is other jobs taking priority; dropping this for those.

Warranty work does not pay well, so if they were busy or backed up, I can see them putting this down to get other vehicles in and out. They did that when mine had the Power Steering Pump (electrical nightmare) issue.

This could very well be the case, but why take something that small at backburner it for over a week? I will not let people bring in vehicles well before the scheduled date because I dont want to store it and it almost always leads to a check up phone call prior to the scheduled appointment hoping you finished it early.

Yeah, but over a week is a bit........
OTOH, we really don't know how many other vehicles were there sitting for parts. At one point 2 years ago when I was in the dealership they told me they had 35 other Jeep and Ram vehicles sitting out back waiting on parts - and as the parts came in, those would be brought in and finished.
I'd hope that no one is sitting on that many vehicles waiting for parts, but say one had been there for over a month for an engine or engine parts - I'd expect that one to be brought in as it was already started and was in the queue for a lot longer.
Imagine the owners of the vehicles sitting out there waiting 6 weeks for parts only to be told "parts came in last week but we don't have any open appointments to get yours back in until next month"

Currently reading all these threads on leaking right rear axle seals… ??
My ‘22 Rubicon has only 12,000kms (7500miles) of very easy city miles.

Noticed an oily dust shield while underneath the vehicle today. I have no experience with my dealers service department, but I guess I’m going to find out if they’re good or not!
