I’m thinking of putting my full convertible top back on this summer, mainly so I can remove the back window and side curve sections when I want to. The first time I installed these, they were very stiff and hard to install. I’m wondering if anyone knows if the installation and removal process gets easier over time when the parts have been put off and on a number of times. Thinking that the material and the fasteners loosen up some and Stretch?

Put them out in the sun for probably 20-30 minutes prior to installing. It will be much easier.

I let them sit in the sun for a couple hours before I put them on and take them off. That seems to make it easier.

I take my window off quite a bit and it feels about the same everytime. I need to use the palm of my hand to push the bottom green plastic piece in the slot. usually the same amount of force.

They loosen up. I've had mine for three years and its no problem. They have to make them really tight, so when they do stretch, they end up at the perfect snugness to be watertight. Manhandle it a little bit, the material can take it, especially if you have the premium twill. Here's my order:

-the window gets slid in from either side and the bottom flap is snapped in.
-I walk to the other side and finish snapping in the bottom window flap
-I fit whichever corner piece I have in it's place
-when I secure a corner piece I snap in the window flap first followed by the door frame flap and then the little flap with the webbing loop attached to it.
-I position the velcro at the top of the corner pieces so it's tight
-finally, I place each top corner window "wing" under both soft top layers

Good luck. I hope this helps.

Thanks a TON for this thorough info! I feel better about do this now for sure. One other question.... do you use the soft top rear window bag to store your stuff while it's off, and then keep it in the truck bed? Seems this would be essential if your carrying it with you. Thx again, Mark

I don't carry the rear window and side panels with me. I haven't taken the top off as it's handy to have when unexpected weather crops up.

I invested in the Mopar storage bag in 2019 shortly after I bought my JT. It stores the window and the corner pieces together. The only time I store the bagged window in the bed is when I need all three rear seats. Most of the time it's loosely rolled up and laying on the back seat. I highly recommend the OEM bag. My rear window is either installed or in the bag. I'm very consistent with this. After four summers, my window still looks brand new.
