Has anyone tried fixing it themselves? I was thinking if I could get the trim pieces off I could try sealing it. I hate thinking about taking it to the dealership. Maybe some flex seal would work
Hey, LiftedrubiconJT. If you would like any assistance while working with your dealer for repairs, please let us know. We are in private message!

I was storing some stuff behind the rear seats a few days ago and noticed the velcro'd fabric trim piece that hides the hard top mounting torx bolts was wet. I looked a bit closer and there were water streaks on the inside of the window!

I had no idea this was a common problem. I'll make an appointment with my dealership to get an oil change and have this checked out at the same time... I hope the rear trim piece and/or the hard top sound deadening aren't water damaged... Also would be concerned about water damage to the subwoofer or other stuff back there.

I'm hopeful that Jeep will make it right. I bought this truck 1.5 years ago and have only put 14k miles on it.

I think it's only started recently because we've been getting snow in Buffalo (imagine that) and melting snow on the top started leaking into the cabin...

Wow, that looks factory! They probably should've sealed the strange gap between the hardtop and the back window like this from the beginning...

Maybe try mailing some of this weatherstripping to Jeep with a nicely worded description...

You guys should seriously consider a TSB for this issue. This seems to affect many proud jeep owners. If there is a TSB already, I apologize for not seeing it.

I must be very lucky... my steering doesn't wander and my hardtop doesn't leak, these seem to be the biggest bugaboos currently going on this forum

Add me to the leaky rear window hardtop issue. Picked up the JL after waiting for a new rear axle for 2 months almost to the day and dropped off the JT.
That being said Jeep has really taken care of me. I've been driving a bright red gladiator.I need to drop off and rerent it for the gladiator repair.

I had a leak a couple of weeks ago when we got our first big rain here in Austin, it was the leak as others have reported coming from the top of the window.
knowing that we had a bigger storm on the way I went to Home Depot and got some rubber weather seal, I put it around the top and sides of the window. I'm happy to say that we had a two day storm where 3.5" rain fell at my property and it kept the water out.

I do plan on asking the dealer to fix it, but I've been there too much recently with my steering box replacement, and our grand Cherokee. I need a break from them for a while.
with this weatherstrip I can quickly pull it out, leaving nothing behind.

Good post, picked up a roll at HD and worked great, I will deal with the dealer in the summer to get it fixed. maybe they will come out with a real fix by then..

Dropped mine off this morning to get the rear glass replaced. This is after almost 3 months of waiting for the glass. I finally demanded a new Jeep Cares rep and the new one got the glass In within less than a week. Keeping my fingers crossed it goes smoothly. I expressed my concerns over the top not getting scratched in the process and was ensured it would not be. My 2nd Jeep cares rep has been good to work with. The one prior should not have a job in customer service. I have printed my list of things to check when it is done and will give it a good go over once it completed.

Well, it did not go well. Their is either touch-up paint or glass sealant in several spots around the back of the hard top now. Some slight scratches and a tiny gouge. Glass shards, rubber trim and dirt everywhere in the back behind the seats and in the floorboards. At least one of the plastic trim pieces has broken tabs now.

I have called Jeep Cares before the dealer and I am waiting on a return call from them.

Jeep simply did not make these windows to be replaceable. Very bad design that was not well thought out.

Gonna be very interesting to see how Jeep handles this ongoing issue. Seems like most folks who have had their glass replaced have had damage to their top. I don't want a leaking top every time it rains, but I also don't want a damaged top on my new truck.

Ugh . . .

My steering doesn't wander, but my roof definitely leaks. I also have an ARE topper installed, as well as having zero degrees of confidence that the dealership can and will address this reasonably. I base that largely on the ineffective nature that they addressed the wind leak and some lug nuts that were so tight I twisted off a Snap On 1/2" drive extension getting them off.

I think I'm just going to order the weatherstripping , take the top off, fix it and put it back on. I wish I had more confidence in the dealership but quite honestly I do not.

If there was a TSB or recall campaign (which there should be) I'd be more inclined to letting them fix at it.

So far so good. 7 months and I haven't noticed any leaks yet. My 2005 Colorado had a defective seal around the 3rd brake light. During a bad rain storm I had nearly an inch of water inside...carpeted floor!
