Mine has been reliable in terms of the diesel. I’m not far south of Canada in ny. My def froze one time at -15f and my auto start stop don’t work in the cold. But it starts and runs fine at -15f and it heats just fine. I don’t plug in or anything. Probably should or could if I was so inclined. Sounds like your dealer just wants to sell you a gasser for his own reasons.. no reason to shy away from the diesel. I run hot shots to increase fuel lubrication but you are not required to do so. That’s just what I do for me. Also I am getting 28mpg if I don’t let it sit warming up for 10 min.

If you will park it in a garage....... +1
If you will drive at least 20 minutes of highway speeds a week or more ........ +1
If you have already owned a jeep and know that tops leak .....+ 1
If you are already knowledgeable if diesels and their added cost ..... +1
If you have a backup car to drive in the off case you need a dealer to look at it ........ +3

I think you need a 4 or higher to pass. :CWL:
Yeah, -20F happens regularly around here and no, I don't have a garage. That sums it up, thanks.

I don’t have a garage either and our ram eco diesel also lives outside. They both start and run fine all winter.

There's a class action lawsuit pending for the 3.6. Not to step on anyone's toes just be aware of that.
LOL - yeah, That class action thing is not likely to get far - not when hundreds of thousands of the 3.6 have gone for many miles without any issue. We've had several 3.6 equipped Jeeps with no engine issues. Their lineup of years and vehicles makes little sense, either. Someone got angry and want's their day in court and money.

Based on observations in the forums here, seems like the two engines are about equal with issues.

He should get what he wants, and not be concerned about lawsuits that haven't gone anywhere at all or someone who has had back luck (like that dealer)
There's thousands of both running around with no issues.

That being said, it's quite warmer during the winter around Syracuse than it is in Rimouski, ain't it?
Riddle me this, is 0* C any diferent than 32*F. How many responses do you want that the 3.0 works with few issues in cooler weather? Keep on trolling.

Yeah the trolling is annoying. My truck has been in -15F weather, outside, not being started for a few days and no issues with DEF. It starts up easier than any gas vehicle that I had. My late model Mercedes sluggishly started (good battery) in -5F overnight.
You can smell when it's not using it and when it is using it. It's sat for days in -5F consistent weather and no issues.

I don’t have time for conversions… all I know is I live where it gets well below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes for week or two at a time. Not often for weeks but frequently for days. And two weeks at -15 F is the same as two days at-15F as far as the truck is concerned. Long duration cold has an effect on the battery of all vehicles but the engine itself and the fuel and oil in it don’t necessarily give a shit if it’s at a specific temperature for 10 minutes or ten days. Freeze points and cold pour points don’t change over time. It’s a certain density at a certain temperature. My truck runs fine heats fine at -15F, your gasser will to. You ask for opinions and real world user information that’s what you have received. I have zero vested interest in your decision. You buy what ya want or like. Or let the salesman “help you decide “ because he obviously drives a diesel gladiator. And obviously has no vested interest in your decision to buy the gasser on his lot.
