I know this is a little old, anyone relocate the 12v outlet inside the center console?
I have not seen that one. Why relocate and not split or add a new one? Where are you relocating to?

Because the MOPAR trailer brake controller takes the 12v outlet spot. You have to remove the outlet to install the control dial/knob for the brake controller. Some would like to keep the 12v outlet - and choose to relocate it instead of removing it like Jeep would if you had them install the brake controller.
He's wondering where to relocate it to after removing it for the trailer brake controller install.
I've been wondering that myself - mine is hanging behind the glove box right now.

Hanging in the glove box is surely an option. :)

I haven't purchased the Mopar Controller just yet, but I like that location more than just hanging a controller under the dash. Looks so clean! But tablets, Phones, Airpods, Camera's, all need charging! :)

Then there are accessories that plug into a 12v outlet -

After going down the rabbits' hole of brake controllers, I think I have finally settled on the Curt Spectrum (now that the correct harness is out). At least that is my decision as a write this lol.

That said since the Gladiator did not also put a 12V in the armrest I really want to install the Brake controller in the 12V spot AND move power someplace else. Can't go without any 12V.

Has anyone done a clean swap / relocation here that they would recommend?
Go with the Curt. look at this video. Etrailer walks through an entire install of the Curt into the Gladiator without touching the 12v outlet and keeping it on the same panel as the 12v, just on the other side. Very easy to do and he gives all the part numbers of what you need.

You can do that with REDARC, too - but I wanted the dash integrated look - so went with the MOPAR.
The REDARC was fine, simple to install, could mount the dial almost anywhere there was room for the knob, but for some of us - well, we liked the factory look and feel.

And in my new truck, same thing - I'll put the brake controller dial where the 12v outlet is and move the outlet. It can be almost anywhere. There's no need to have a 12v outlet right at your right hand fingertips all the time. Heck, it could be over on the right end of the dash, IMO, or in the console.
I don't need an outlet I can reach while driving.
I guess I'm saying - why do I need a 12v outlet within easy reach while driving, so it gets moved. I DO want and need fast, easy, intuitive access to the trailer brakes, though.

Just my thinking on it.

I did the redarc in the same location and used the Quadratech cig plug splitter to run a dual 12 volt outlet under the passenger. It gives you a plug and play live wire from the cig plug. There is an amazon one but everyone said by the higher quality one from Quadratech. Gained an extra plug and used the power from the cig plug outlet.

Pics at the bottom of this page of my build thread for the dash mount.

Below is a pic of the dual plug that is under the seat. Bought this guy from Amazon and just clipped off the battery clamps

I saw nothing "cheap" or bad or questionable with the Amazon harness - the idea of the thing is to add a 12v tap on the wires to the 12v outlet.
I extended the wires a bit so it would reach from the normal 12v outlet area clear over into the glove box.

My bet is that they come from the same original source, but even if not, these aren't rocket booster parts and are all internal, enclosed in the dash.

I'll likely never need nor use the tap these are intended for, especially don't like fuses in hidden spots, so I am simply using it to extend the 12v wiring a few inches. I left that fuse and tap in it anyway.

Just a heads up since I just went through this when I did mine, getting the socket out of the bezel is a real PIA without destroying it (at least it was for me). I found searching on here that there's a tool to make it a looooot easier:
https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-57450-Lighter-Socket-Removal/dp/B01ID3H3SC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2X08O770J90HI&keywords=dorman+57450&qid=1655307149&s=automotive&sprefix=dorman+57450,automotive,63&sr=1-1

EDIT: just saw this is an older post, but i'll leave this here in case it helps someone else doing research on it
