First thing to check would be the batteries. How old are they? When the voltage level drops low enough, remote start won't work.

Are any of the remote start requirements stated in the owner's manual not met?

All of the following conditions must be met before the engine will remote start:
 Gear selector in PARK
 Doors closed
 Hood closed
 Hazard switch off
 Brake switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
 Battery at an acceptable charge level
 Panic button not pushed
 System not disabled from previous Remote Start event
 Vehicle Security system indicator flashing
 Ignition in OFF position
 Fuel level meets minimum requirement
 All removable doors must not be removed
 Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) not illuminated

Only time I've ever had that happen was because the fuel was too low. It would start and immediately turn off.

I had this happen to me once, turned out that when I put my doors back on one of the harness pins got bent. Took some simple trouble shooting but I was able to determine that the Jeep wasn't detecting that the passenger door was on so it wouldn't allow the remote start to work. It would do the chirp but not start.
