Right of passage for new Jeep owner?

WI... rock bounced off a roof of the car in front me that came off of a trailer with a back hoe.

I actually ducked inside the cab when I saw the rock coming towards me. Anyone seeing my reaction would have probably drove straight into the ditch from laughing.

if it weren't for COVID19, I'd probably be driving down I-94 more frequently to visit stepkid in Madison and my folks in Milwaukee... probably have a rock chip or two as a result

Wife had 2010 Wrangler 94,000 miles no windshield issue at all, she has 2019 Wrangler 17,000 miles broken windshield on Rt. 81 ,75 mph, bigger then golf ball size stone dead center of my face, two inch round circle like a big bullet star crack to all points of glass was at least two feet, hard to drive the last five hours of trip that way. I did duck as we both saw it coming, inside layer not cracked!....jack

It's not a matter of if you get a crack, it's a matter of when you get a crack. It's going to happen, jeeps are notorious for it since the windshield is a wall waiting to be hit by anything. Welcome to the club!

Went through two windshields on my previous JK. Part of yearly maintenance costs.

Another idea, since we can fold the windshield down, Try that and see if you get a cracked windshield.

Most of time tailgating causes it. Eliminate that and you’re reduced to cross-traffic debris....which state specific. But tailgating is so common now I don’t think many people even know what a safe distance is anymore.

I’ve had jeeps for a decade or so. 1 chip...due to tailgating. Well I didn’t do it...they cut me off and broke my windshield in the process.
