Recently did the tailgate thing - it turned out well, but removing the existing badge was pretty difficult - not the initial stuff, but buffing out the residue was beyond my ability and required a detailing shop - turns out it was not adhesive residue, but clear coat that had been dulled from repeated rubbing.

My black Rubicon will be outfitted with yellow accents - so, side note, if anyone is doing anything yellow I'd love to see. Right now I'm doing the other badges, the dash, the tow hooks, etc.

I'd like to do some of the textured plastic but my autobody guy says it's pretty difficult to do. Thoughts?

Looks awesome! Are you painting the side "Jeep" badges yellow as well?
Sorry for the late reply. Not new to forums, but new to this one - would have expected an indication that a reply came in.

Yes - right now, as a matter of fact, I am doing the fender badges, the Rubicon hood decal outline, the tow hooks and the dash all in colour-matched yellow.

The bezel inserts are going to be flat black (from silver).

I'd like to do more accent pieces - textured plastic I'm told doesn't lend itself well to being painted, so I'm still trying to figure out how to do things like the hood vents which I think would look really sharp.

Dash off and ready for painting.

I dismantled my dash and painted it Sarge Green (came out nice) but did not paint the vent bezels; and now I wish I had. Guess I gotta pull the whole dash off again! I look forward to seeing you 'after' photos!
