I sifted through many pages on here, but didn't come up with anything:

Has anyone mounted a rack directly to this topper? I'm assuming that is possible? I am considering adding the RLD topper, with either a rhino rack or a frontrunner rack mounted directly on top. I'd also like a matching rack over the cab of the Jeep (most likely a maximus-3 kit with rhino rack), but I would want a flat platform across the two racks. Has anyone seem a configuration like that? If anyone does happen to have a rack directly on their cap, how much height does it add over the top of your roof line?

Some great info and great pictures here so far. I'm much happier with the gen 2 style than I am the first production run, and this camper is now towards the top of my list.

I don’t have a rack mounted but I do have my RTT directly mounted. I did see a rhino rack mounted directly I believe it was someone on here.

You definitely can, but the racks aren't going to line up with the holes most likely you'll need to drill into the cap. I'm not too optimistic you'll be able to get a perfectly flat surface across both though. The racks for caps are universal in nature and typically use the tracks so I'm guessing they'll be higher than most cab racks.

I personally like the cab rack slightly lower look but everyone has a preference. It's easier to add spacers to what you're adding to the rack than it is to raise the rack itself.

Now if FR would only sell us the rear supports separately or do a 3/4 or 1/2 cab rack... they won't just sell half the rack kit that they currently offer for liability reasons...

I just wanted 3-4ft or so of rack to cover the fixed section of hard top for maxtrax. FR makes a full rack with A-pillar supports and their backbone type system for the rear but they won't just sell the rear pieces separately. Their sales guy said no shorter version was on the roadmap either so not expecting one like the JLU/JKU has.

So since I want to add a snorkel at some point, Front Runner's full rack is a no go and I want the two to match. If I decide to skip the 80/20 load bar and go with a rack, it will be Maximus-3's Rhino-based cab rack and a Rhino cap rack.

I mounted a Rhino Pioneer rack to my Gen 1. I had to drill holes. First I tried the tracks mounted to the raised portion of the Cap with rivets. Between the track, the leg mounts and the rack it was all too high. Later I purchased some mounts from Smittybilt and drilled holes to the side of the cap. This was the lowest point I could get it. To marry a Pioneer rack to the Cap directly you will need some sort of adjustable low profile bracket. Especially if you want to use the factory holes. I was going to try to figure out some sort of bracket when my Gen 2 gets here. If not I will drill into the side. The cap is pretty strong.

I went with the Roofnest Condor XL, some sort of idea. I love the new hard shell foldout RTTs! It will arrive late July, but my RLD canopy isn't scheduled to arrive until late August now. Its going to be a nail biter because we have a 3 week expedition planned for September 12th!
