RLD Trailer?

I recently came across a local guy who builds off road trailers. Below is an example of one he built. I really like the idea of the topper on there for dry lockable storage. Super handy for safe tool storage when I'm on the road for work, and also great for extra capacity on the family camping trips.

Then I thought, maybe I could match the trailer to the size of the JT bed and get the RLD cap I've been dreaming about. Put the RLD on the truck for the snowy months and on the trailer the rest of the year.

Anyone out there have any reason why this wouldn't work, because I've pretty much talked myself into going this route.

No reason it wouldn't work and that's actually a great idea I'll probably steal in several years when I sell the JT. I mean for a dedicated trailer it's going to be far cheaper to just cut, weld, and rivet in your own doors and hardware into a built trailer but for multi-use or to reuse an old cap, that's a great way to get the best flexibility out of both.

You'll probably get an even better fit than stock given you can make a trailer completely square. Even better, you can build a lip or tabs into the trailer, drill holes into it, and either weld nuts or add riv-nuts so that you don't even need to deal with clamps to hold it on.
