Wondering if anyone else out there has had the same issue as I am with their Gen 3 steps. Mine were working fine for the last year, with the exception of having to reset one step once or twice by disconnecting the plug to it so it would recalibrate. About a month ago I was taking my JT in for service and wanted them to test the batteries since I was having issues with the ESS and seeing low voltage prior to starting the Jeep. I disconnected the rockslide steps positive wire from the battery well it went in for service (was probably disconnected for a week).
After reconnecting the positive lead the steps now work initially but then stop working (won't open) after the truck has sat for maybe 5 minutes. After disconnecting and reconnecting the positive lead the same thing occurs. I contacted rockslide and they were very helpful and sent out two new control boards (one for each step). I need to drop the steps off to replace the control boards hence why I am trying to find out if anyone else has had this issue and found a fix other then replacing the control boards.
It's very odd both control boards started doing the same thing (became defective) at the same time. Rockslide told me the control boards don't talk to each other and one could be replaced at a time.
Any thoughts would be appreciated - wiring, grounding, plug reseating etc someone might have had to fix to resolve this same issue.
