Does anyone else feel like Jeep is encouraging rolling stops with the ESS?

A proper complete stop trips the ESS.

You can blame the EPA for that. Jeep installs the ESS to meet their requirements. Many of us just use the button on the dash to turn it off.

That’s like asking if Jeep is encouraging not wearing your seatbelt.

Permanenly turned mine off via the tazer - hated it, decided I could live without the .00000000000003 MPG fuel savings.. or whatever it is.

As you get older your muscle memory also fades, I bought the button delete kit , took about two minutes to install, works great can still push the button to use it, but like it now!……Jack

I deactivate ESS it every time I drive. My original statement was that I feel like the ESS promotes rolling stops at stop signs. A couple of times that I have forgotten to deactivate and I have come to stop signs, the Jeep will shut off for the half second before I have to go.

I did an aux battery delete, and went with a full throttle battery for my main.

Seriously? You believe this is a Jeep thing? Like they invented it or are the only company to use it?

How about learning to press the button, or, moderating the brake pedal to prevent it from stopping via ESS?

But did you leave the batteries coupled?
Why does that matter?
People still believe the internet lore of the aux battery always being the problem taking out the main.
It's just as easily the main battery going first.
But not if you listen to the "experts on batteries" in Jeep forums.
They have an experience - and see others post similar and suddenly it's the de faco truth.

Jeep did not invent ESS.
Jeep is not the only auto maker to use ESS
Jeep is not the only auto maker to have used two batteries.
You can learn to use the brake pedal differently because the brake switch is not an on/off switch, it's actually pressure sensitive and you can stop and not trigger ESS.
You can also get in, start the Jeep, and press the button to disable ESS.

But hey, the internet says Jeep invented ESS, Jeep is the one that uses or used two batteries and of course, the aux battery always kills the main battery.
Just ask the internet.

Apparently, many new Jeep owners haven't had any or many other newer vehicles before their new Jeep. otherwise, they'd know these systems date back almost a decade - 2015 for the 2016 model year for Jeep (Grand Cherokee and others) and several other car companies (Chevy, Ford, BMW and so on)

I always turn mine off. Sometimes I don't remember until I get to the first stop.
The thing I don't like is the constant engine off and back on causing undue stress on the engine. Short term is no big deal but in the long term it seems like the extra stress will wear the engine down faster.

Probably going to get banned for this, but who pissed in your cornflakes?

I don't see anyone saying Jeep invented ESS.
Yes, peddle moderation works most of the time, but not always. I guess they don't have any downhill grades approaching stop signs in Iowa.

As far as ESS, I have driven different vehicles with ESS, the Jeep is the most clunky out of them all.
But that was not the point of the original post.
