Sorry if this has been asked before. I read a 12 page thread about people putting Mopar steel bumpers on Mojaves and all the compatibility issues they had with the Mojave skid plate, but I never saw anyone address this specifically:

On my Mojave, if I put on the Mopar steel front bumper and skid plate, would that skid plate sufficiently cover the shock reservoirs like the Mojave plate does? I'm trying to avoid having to cut and grind steel if I can... lol

Pics would help if you have them!

On my Mojave, I installed the Mopar steel bumper - then I purchased the rubicon steel plate, it perfectly protects the shock reservoirs.

I'll try to post some photos later, when I get access to my main pc.

So it sounds like the Mopar steel bumper + steel skid plate is a direct bolt on to a Mojave, right?

Why the heck did the make a different SKU for Mojave skid?

The only difference will be the color? Same protection and works with steel bumper?

Seems a great way to go. Remove whole plastic bumper and add Mopar steel stubby - not too much extra weight.

The Mojave skid plate acts independent of the front bumper thus why it comes with the plastic bumper, unfortunately it does not fit (unless you cut it) to the Mopar rubicon metal bumper.

The rubicon metal skid plate attaches to the front bumper, and two mounting points on the frame so it's a different design, thankfully it protects the front fox reservoirs in a similar manner.

Thanks! I can't think of any reason NOT to go that route then, other than it's heavier.

.... looks like if you order the Mopar steel stubby, it comes complete WITH LED fogs? Nice That makes the bumper "cheaper" as I was gonna buy those anyway.

EDIT: Bam confirmed it comes with the LED fogs.

The Rubicon and Mojave both come stock with the Plastic bumper and identical skid plates just painted a different color, the metal bumper has the skid plate that attaches to the bumper directly, hence the difference. I put a Rubicon plastic bumper skid plate on my wifes JL Sahara, and can almost swear it was not as much weight as the stock big plastic air dam and metal pieces with it. We have a long stone drivewaty and her air dam would always be full of stones from the tires, not so with the metal skid.....Jack

I’m wondering the same thing
Not at all. You pop the Mojave upper brackets off, and the Rubicon skid plate bolts up into the two lower holes where the Mojave skid plate was, and the rest go up into the bumper itself.
