Rubicon JT unavailable to order

I went to my dealer to put in an order for a Rubicon Gladiator on Tuesday 8/27. The order program was only showing sport and overland options. Does anyone know why the Rubicons are currently unavailable for order?

As I understand it the Rubi is blocked from the order list right now. Your dealer has to enter it as a sold order and then it will show up.

Amazing that Jeep would do that to its dealerships that are just trying to get Robicons on their lots so they can sell them. They had this exact same block on ordering base Sport model trucks(not Sport S models). My dealership had to click that my truck was a customer ordered truck so they could then get my truck ordered. Really surprised that this do this to Rubicons. I think they shoot themselves in the foot here if this is true.

I think it is because they cranked out Rubicon after Rubicon at the beginning and they just want the dealers to move some of those. Maybe something to do with parts availability too.

My local dealer told me the same yesterday and it rolled into getting an Overland (which he knows I don't want). I took it as a "don't order what you want, but buy what I have on the lot!"

That would mean no more Rubicons for the next 8 months or so...Jeep would never leave that much money on the table. I could see them taking a break from Rubi’s to allow suppliers to catch up, but seriously doubt they’d restrict sales so significantly.

I hope it’s not true. I was excited to get to the point where I could order my gladiator and now I feel deflated. My dealer acted like he has seen this with JLs. He acted as if he expects the orders to open up anytime.

Maybe this means that my Sport will now get built sooner instead of later. Same thing for Overland and Sport S buyers. Sorry for Rubicon buyers. But maybe dealerships with Rubicons on their lots will have to discount them if they want people to buy them since they can’t get them for a while. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Oh and FYI if my take on this is correct then you as a customer can still order your Rubicon but dealerships can not order stock Rubicons to park on their lots to sell.

Dealer didn’t say anything. Just mark it as a sold order and it goes through?

Hey @spazzyfry123 that’s exactly what I speculated above, is exactly what happened when my dealership tried to order by base Sport model truck. At first they had not clicked that it was a customer ordered truck. So the Jeep system would not allow them to order as a stock truck. But when they clicked that it was a customer ordered truck the Jeep system then let my order go through.

So I think that this may be how Rubicon orders will be handled for now. My best guess here.
