On my 23 JTR, I got a hunk of wire stuck in the tire sidewall and the tire is deemed unrepairable as result. My JTR has 20K on-road miles and these are the factory supplied Falkens. My question is should I replace at least both tires on the axle because of the axle lockers or would one suffice?

I would definitely do both, but it probably wont destroy anything if you do just one. I would put it on the rear if you do just one.

Could take off the spare tire and put it on and just find a cheapie used one for the spare wheel.

I agree that matched is ideal but I would not worry to much about it.

Could also look for a similar depth used on Ebay.

I would say it depends on wear. If the other tire on the same axle is almost gone, just do both and save some possible trouble.
My wife had a car that ate tires. I always swapped 2 at a time, but kept the"good" one's to swap back as a semi-matched pair

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and purchased another new tire for the rear axle so the tire size will be matched on the axle.
