I recently picked up a rear view mirror mount dash cam to try out and I read a review from another Gladiator owner who ran the rear camera to his trailer hitch by way of the drain plug in the cab floor.

There must be a better way to route the cable to the hitch which doesn’t involve you g through the drain plug.

Any ideas?

The problem is getting the wires out of the cab. The only other way is through the firewall. There may be a hole on the passenger side, but the one on the driver's side is easier to access.
