Yep, that's why I was looking hard at them. Couldn't pass up the deal i got on the Kanati's but time will tell if they wear well or not. Currently they are riding as good as my BFG KO2s did and are as quiet. I hope that stands true 20,000 miles from now
Can't beat less than $1200 for a set of 37's. I'm curious on how well the Kanati's wear now too. Post your wear data.

@TRI-JAB - I didn't think the Yakima Overhaul was compatible with the Bakflip X4S? Did something change? Is there a unique mounting base?

You are correct - it is not. I am working on an alternative solution…. Stand by.

I was really disappointed to find out backflip did not take all of the dimensions of their side rails into consideration. We need a custom solution.

Samson got a set of 37-inch Cooper Discoverer XLT AT3 shoes with new Black Rhino Rapid wheels thanks to @Discount Tire (his previous 35-inch Falken WildPeak AT3’s on LE wheels are up for sale in the member marketplace).

The 3.5-inch @Clayton Off Road lift was screaming at me everyday for a larger set of tires. And YES, as you can see in the last picture, the lift allowed me to fit my 37-inch spare under the JT!

Can’t say enough good things about the customer support and service from the Tega Cay store - outstanding folks!

Note: one of the reasons that I chose this wheel/tire combo is weight. The Rapid wheel is 26 lbs and the Discoverer XLT AT is a 68 lb tire. Plus I tow a camper - the Cooper Discoverer is designed for towing. The wheel was my fourth choice wheel, but in the supply chain limited environment that we are currently experiencing - it was my best option. I really do like the wheel, really happy. Just wanted the Black Rhino Bantam or Dugger a little more.

Have you regeared or do you think you’ll need to?

I have not regeared. I have considered it, but not having to regear was a primary motive in choosing the wheel tire combo that I picked up. With this light package, I have not experienced any lag in acceleration or issues towing my camper with the new set up. In fact, I recently added a Hike It X9 pedal/throttle controller that is outstanding. My acceleration has really improved (not that I am a speed demon in the JT). The Eco/Trail mode worked really well at UWharrie.

So I have a few other upgrades to post, but today I had help from another forum member to reinstall my hard top… seems like the wrong time of year to put the hardtop on, but I bought a Bestop Sunrider from another forum member. My thought is the pups will have shade in the back seat while we have open air in the front.

I can’t say enough about the @Bestop sunrider. Funny story, I bought one before I had my soft top. I traded the Sunrider as part of the deal for the new soft top. In hindsight, I wish I had not done that, but only experience with the soft top would have let me know. Even the Mrs is impressed with the Sunrider. I am a less than average height guy and I can open and close the top with one hand.

Quick q: Do you anticipate swapping the Sunrider seasonally? That is, taking it off in the winter and running the Freedom Panels.

Probably not based on the weather in SC. I ran the soft top all winter. Kind of funny that I waited for an 80 degree day to take off the soft top and put the hard top back on. However, I like the option of putting the freedom panels back on. The install/removal of the Sunrider takes less than 30 minutes.

I spent some time yesterday installing the @Armorlite_Kail In Desert Khaki in Samson (with the brown leather interior). The install is a real PITA, but I am hoping it makes my pups hair clean up much easier and much les noticeable.

One critique of the installation instructions is that my JT does not have T50 torx head bolts. I had to find an E12 socket to remove the front seat bolts.

I have a color sample if anyone needs it.

From the videos, I've watched, installation looks like a Real Joy. Any trimming or knife work required on yours? Or just a bunch of wrangling? (And of course, just the challenge of having the right socket to get the seats out)

No trimming, just a bunch of seat and carpet wrestling….

Looks great, thanks for posting. When we made the instructions the bolts being installed where the normal torx like the JL has. But the assembly line for the Gladiator had their guys breaking bits during install so at some point they switched to a torx socket. We need to make a revision to the instructions, thanks for bringing this up.

So I dropped off Samson this evening for the first mods that I did not perform myself (with some help from my friends). Re-gearing from 4.10 to 4.88. Using Yukon gears and upgraded differential covers. Figured while it was in there I would upgrade to moly axles and upgrade both drive shafts. We’ll see how it goes when I get Samson back on Friday…. More to come
