Being that we have officially entered road salt season, I stopped at what used to be a touchless car wash today. They used a foam brush to clean the windshield and now I have 2 pin stripes from the lower center of the glass to the driver's side of the windshield frame.

I spoke with Safelite and they said even though it isn't cracked, all they can offer is replacement.

Anyone ever have any luck with buffing out scratches with a glass compound?

Like how deep are we talking on the scratches? Can you catch it with a nail?

I have use Turtle Wax rubbing compound and a buffer to get faint scratches out with good results. Deep stuff though, you run the risk of visual distortion in spots trying to get the deep stuff out buffing it alone. There is some windshield repair kits that fill in the deep void stuff and take a light compound polish to even out.

I can't catch a nail in them you can just barely feel it. They are so thin I can't get a picture but the sun catches them.

There is a few Youtube videos out there showing the rubbing compound method I mentioned. Probably do the job.

Talked to a local detailer and they are going to buff it out and ceramic coat it. $150 for the whole deal.
