I just bought a diesel Rubicon last night. Didn't even know "cracked windshields" was a thing with these trucks. I've owned many trucks in my lifetime and never had a cracked windshield other than my old Acura mdx which was mainly my fault for driving behind a construction truck carrying gravel.

Is there like any 3rd party 'coating' that mitigates this? Or it's just a matter of luck and chance that determines whether I'm gonna hit 50k on the original windshield OR 500 miles with a cracked one!!

I think it is just rotten luck.
I have 23 mojave bought new from vegas stealership, I went directly to vegas tint shop that installed a 3m protective layer for $350. Drove home to texas and I was impressed at the pelting it took. Fast forward 4 months and now I have 11,000miles . Yesterday drove to matagorda beach and cement truck on opposite side got me at just the edge and created a 50cent piece that started to crack the windshield . The 3m film has only a small 1/4 size of pea 'hole' but the windshield underneath has some long cracks.
I will check with safellite to repair/replace as River oaks Jeep service advisor was offended at my 2 questions if my windshield was covered under my bumper to bumper and how much to install new windshield. quoted $1400 and has to order it in.

$316 for new OEM windshield in Nov 2023, $75 for chip repair in Dec 2023
$0 deductible, work completed in Minnesota
So the Dec 2023 chip repair turned into a crack today. Does Safelite have a warranty? This is bullshit. Now I need a third repair in 6 months.

Been about 4 years but went through something similar with Safelite and one of their repairs failing after a couple of months. If they cannot repair it again, they give you a credit towards a windshield replacement.

Thanks, I just found their written verbiage of the warranty. Sounds like I should get a credit (well, insurance co will get the credit) for the failed chip repair.

My dealer was not a certified glass installer, but Jeep Cares lined me up for warranty replacement at another nearby dealer.
20K miles, got a pebble chip , which fractured into a crack. Vehicle was purchased new from dealership I'm taking it to for the warranty repair 4/22....so i am within the 2 year period.
Dealership denied warranty coverage on the windshield stating that windshields sold on the vehicle as an option only have the lesser of 12k miles/1 Year warranty on the windshield. The service manager would not budge and insisted that warranty coverage for this was not an option.
Just finished up a chat with jeep wave, who did not state the dealership was wrong(gave me a "canned line" that the dealership determines warranty coverage), but she did actually escalate the matter to someone higher up whom she said woudl be in contact with me.
My dealership can do the repair as they were more than happy to do the replacement for a new windshield if I paid ~$2K cash for it ($1,330 windshield plus 450 labor plus 225 calibration).
Stay tuned for resolution.
Update to situation:
I ended up paying for the tire from my local dealership to replace the CGG windshield.
Jeep wave sent me a check to reimburse me for the full expense less a $100 deductible as a gesture of goodwill, due to the ambiguity that the Mopar CGG warranty only applies to windshields purchased stand alone.

I’m very, very satisfied with the Jeep wave program, and conversely am completely disappointed with my local dealerships service dept who refused to err on the side of interpreting the warranty “date of purchase” to mean date of the vehicle/option purchase rather than those words cryptically meaning date of secondary stand alone windshield purchase.

I ended up having a windshield clear bra installed over the new glass (~$300), but I wouldn’t recommend this since it scratched by windshield wipers, and got peppered by bugs on the very first road trip…. That was a waste of time and money. Supposedly the clear bra for the windshield “heals”, so perhaps it will magically go back to being fully clear. We shall see!

The dealership has affirm that now that I’ve purchased the windshield from them, I now “have” the 2 year warranty protection….. stay tuned to see if they actually replace the windshield when it cracks again.

Not sure if it has been mentioned - factory GG is covered under warranty. Jeep will do a 1 time warranty replacement for cracked windshields during the 36k mile warranty. Your dealer has to put in a warranty claim with pictures. Took my dealer a week to get my warranty claim in and approved.
