I missed it! Do you think HF will offer it again?
Probably not for a while. BOLO for a sidewalk sale until next year around this time. That’s the only time I’ve ever bought a winch from them. Sidewalk sale and this sale. Had the 9k version on my LJ from a sidewalk sale and it was a pretty decent discount as well.

I was able to pick one of these up. What are some recommended accessories or add-ons for this winch?

They’re usable as is but if you’re against metal on your recovery gear then you can go all synthetic stuff. Theres a few different places that produce synthetic recovery gear. I can’t really think of any other accessories you’d need. It comes with a remote and pretty much everything you need as long as you have a plate to mount it to. If you want to get fancy you can do black chrome on the lettering but that’s mostly just fluff.

That's good to know that they are usable as-is. In store, I saw they had winch hooks and didn't know if they are needed or even useful.

I have been on the look out for this sale for a good while now. I picked up the synthetic line winch for $399, skipped the warranty though. They promised that I could change my mind within 30 days. I also picked up a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter for $219… now I have to figure out what to do with that!
looking forward to mounting the winch next week.

Those Jupiter inverters work very well for their price point but they are loud as all hell. If using it for camping or something I’d try to bury it in the bed so it doesn’t intrude on the pleasant sounds on nature or 747’s flying by. My 3kw scared the crap out of the wife first time I used it during a power outage. She thought something was about to blow up. I may have gotten a “talking to” about my projects. :CWL:

Well… I can officially say that the Rough Country plate does NOT work with The badlands winch and the stock bumper… DAMN IT

Eh, maybe, but it would be more trouble than it’s worth. It sits both too low AND too far forward. The clutch handle won’t clear the bumper, which is fine, but the bigger issue is that the bumper won’t go back on because the winch sits too far forward.

Warn is supposed to. I’ll let ya know soon when the weather clears up enough to work on mine in this regard anyway.

Well I guess now you have the proper justification for a brand new shiny bumper!!! :turkey:

I’m going to order a new plate tomorrow. Leaning toward the one from @JcrOffroad but I would love for them to chime in and confirm it will fit with the stock JT bumper and Badlands winch Apex 12K.

Badlands APEX 12K winch is a fat girthy winch. I had to install 1/4" spacers to push my EVO 1/4 Pounder bumper out enough that it would fit. Even the front of the winch to the inside fairlead spacing is a bit tight.
