I guess Indiana didn't want her. Lord I wonder why she went back. :)

Only us old farts. At least in my case.
YEP. As a kid growing up in Indy in the 70s, the song has a special place in my heart, except the singer/songwriter is from Canada.

To give you an idea how old. I was a freshman in college when it was released in 1970.
I was a freshman in HS - or roughly there-abouts. I recall first hearing the song on the radio a neighbor had going in his shop while he cut new axles for a go-kart I was making. Brings back memories - my parents said yes, I could have a mini-bike, and yes I could have a go-kart but they couldn't afford either - so if I could make them, I could have them.

Growing up in the real world. I am grateful to have had a similar upbringing. Amazing how we managed to learn how to build all kinds of stuff without an online video to tell us how to do it.

Same here. When I started driving, Dad said "There's the car, drive it when you want to, and if it breaks you fix it." Problem was, he bought a $100 car (used up car) and so problems and breakdowns were a normal occurrence. Being a poor boy, I had to learn to fix it. So for nigh unto fifty years I have been working on vehicles, but at least I get paid for it now.

Due to insurance costs and other factors - my parents said I needed to buy my own car. Mom wasn't able to work outside the home and had medical bills, Dad had a factory job plus commute costs.
The family mechanic had a car sitting by the dealership that was for sale but the wipers didn't work so it wouldn't pass inspection. It was for sale with the idea the person who wanted it had to get it through inspection (not sure if that was technically legal but I was in my mid-teens at the time, everything is legal!)
I diagnosed a wiper motor problem, borrowed his tools and work bench, repaired the motor windings, got it working and bought the car. I was responsible for all of it - gas, maintenance/repairs, insurance, license, whatever.
I paid $150 - it already had 150,000 miles on it.

Sounds to me like a lot of similar experiences and backgrounds here.

I got the reference also. Would have been a sophomore in HS. BTW I like the topper.
