2020 gas Gladiator. 3 1/2" Metalcloak Gamechanger.

We do a lot of different things from long highway miles to rock crawling to overlanding. I have a pretty good amount of permanent weight.

Currently running the Metalcloak shocks but have over 30k miles on them.

Willing to spend up to 2 or 3k.

Suggestions from the shock experts here?

What are the metalcloak rocksports not doing well enough for you? Either way, my first call would be to accutune..

It is a little bouncy. I am no expert but I think I may have just worn them out. A new set is one option. Mostly wondering if some sort of adjustable shocks would be better for multiple purposes.

Call accutune. Those guys are pretty amazing, and they have a presence on the JL forum. You may need to get "as it sits" axle weights, and give them spring rates for the metal cloak lift, but that info is published on here so pretty easy to find.

I would look for a set of mono tube rebuildable shocks (sometimes called smooth body), the MC is just a fancy twin tube shock. I would look at the bilstein 8100, the rock krawler rkk shocks, or something by SDI. King is good but has long lead times I hear. People also like the falcon stuff. To many complain about the fox stuff and their customer service seems to suck.

The things I would look for in a shock is how hard is it to get replacement parts, can you easily talk to someone on the phone.

There is no point paying for a "custom" tune from places like accutune if you can just order the shock once and have them setup the way you want.

Do some research about adjusting shocks, a good place to start is dirt bike forums, learn what high speed compression is, low speed compression is, and rebound. once you under stand those functions you can then better talk to a suspension shop and tell them what you are trying to fix.

On my MC lift I have the falcon 3.3’s. They are a great shock but like said above getting shocks is super long lead times. Personally I think the fox 2.5’s are great shock and so are the kings with adjusters. I do agree a tuned shock for you vehicle will do better than a shock off the shelf. Personally I’m super interested in the SDI eclicks.

good luck
