Shrek, the Gladiator

Starting this as a placeholder for myself, but alas, for the greater good as well.

Picked Shrek up November 23rd from Gutpon, it was an uneventful 270 mile ride back:

Ended up putting 1,000 miles on it before December, luckily it fit in my garage with a few inches to spare:

Ended up Fighting with the tag office over my plate, they denied it, but after proving to them that other cars in the state had similar plates, they allowed it:

Added Diode Dynamics SS3 Elite Fogs w/ backlights, as well as premium bed liner from Line-X:

That's it for now, took it up to Tray Mountain in Helen GA, sort of a dirt road with some small rocks/ruts. Performed as well as expected.

Ordered Teraflex Leveling Kit, I will be installing it tomorrow along with the first oil change.

Don't ask for pictures of the work, first time in 10ish years doing suspension stuff again and forgot how annoying jacking the jeep up is, but alas, only one screw up (forgot to loosen the control arms, still need to handle that).

Overall, happy with the level. I will eventually get 35's to fill out the wheel wells. Ride is as expected, stock.

Might be overthinking it... but it sure looks like my front axle is now shifted *slightly* driver side after installing the lift. Looking into buying an adjustable track bar now. Was hoping the 1.5 was small enough that it wouldn't require one.

Welcome from another Georgian. Shrek is coming along nicely. If you want some simple dirt mild off-roading and a small creek crossing check out Little River Canyon area Backroad #5 and others in Fort Payne, AL. It’s a nice day trip. You can swim in the river at certain areas too.

Appreciate it! I used to get out a bunch in my old JK but sold that back in 2015. Slowly getting back out there. I'll give it a look over!

Added these this afternoon, light cutoff in the garage seems good, only night time will tell the truth. It's nice to have 3 different lighting colors, my only complaint is that it seems to forget which light color I shut the jeep off with and just cycles through with each unlock.

Just got the Jeep back from the dealership, tire rotation, general check, and a look into my 3rd gear stutters. Service Advisor had the tech do a full relearn, and so far, so good. Attached is also the Blackstone analysis of the oil change ~500 miles ago, and an obligatory picture

One of the switchback headlight bulbs will no longer flow through the different temperatures, emailed AuxBeam and will see how it's handled. Forgot how much better this looks, but did this to my old JK, it flows a bit better with the lines.

Small update, added knockoff eBay bumper, rusting already where the wings meet the main bumper. That and they shipped the wrong bumper nipples, will need to order replacements to fill the holes. I’ll take it off this summer and likely coat it in some nice spray.

Also got around to dropping the windshield for sh1ts and gigs, fun to drive around at anything below 30, definitely get some odd looks.

Adding for future reference:

Ran the below for just about a year, a few of the diodes died. Probably just due to how it’s built, swapped to F15 Auxbeam and the cutoff is so much better than the tricolor.

H13/9008 3-Colors Switchback High and Low Beam X60 LED Light Bulbs 40W 8000LM × 1

Now running

F15 Series H13/9008 Light Bulbs, 20000LM 600% Brighter Fog Light Bulbs, 6500K Cool White Kits with Five-Layer Cooling System


Obviously neither of those are 8000lm or 20000lm, but certainly an upgrade over stock.

Also have the knockoff amfib coming in tomorrow. Will see if the connecting tube is prone to collapse as the RR kit is. If so, will utilize a 3D printed file someone made to add “extensions” to the tube to give it more structure.

Eh… even for $100 I’m disappointed in the snorkel. Knew going into it that the tube may cave in on itself, no worries, it’ll pull the air it needs to, but the tube not only caved in on itself, it cracked at the seams on the sides. Currently it’s taped with waterproof tape while I decide what real snorkel I’ll go with, aev or arb. Lesson learned, $100 is too good to be true.
