I have decided for sure on which bumper I'm getting for the front. Now I'm trying to find a skid plate for it or maybe get some ideas on fabing one for it myself. I have thought about using the plastic that's on it for now but don't really know how it will work. I'm trying to keep some of the aerodynamics of the jeep in place. This is the bumper just to give an idea

I need one for my Fab Fours stubby as well... I worry about my sway bar disco actuator getting whacked by something in the road. I'd be down for a solution if someone else makes one. I no longer have my fab shop, or any of my fab tools, or welder. Once I finally put down some roots (I know, at 34 I'm long overdue for that, but I'm working on that now) I'll build another shop and buy all new equipment again, so I can get back to fabbing like I used to.

Who knows, I might even create the next big thing in JT mods... I have been known to design such items for the 6.7 Cummins diesel world. Things you've seen and never knew I designed or developed...But I'm just a stupid redneck from Alabama...What do I know? ;)

Hey if you got some ideas, throw them out there, I might have a guy who can build it. I thought about calling Greg over at Fab Four since it's only a 40 minute ride for me but the skid plate would probably cost as much as the bumper, but it would definitely take a beating.

I have a Rubicon... I had to remove the skid plate to fit my Fab Fours Stubby bumper. I need something that works aftermarket. I might could mod the factory skid plate, but once again, no fab tools, so I don't have a way to do so. At this point without a shop or a garage and a gravel driveway to lay on, I need bolt-on things for right now... Till I can build another shop and get all the proper tools that I used to have...

I'm not going to fork-out $400 for a skid plate (I think $150-$200 would be fair), but if Greg wants to design a hard-core solution that doesn't hang-down too far, is relatively aerodynamic, and can truly take a beating offroad (in that price-range), you can count me in for one. :like:

I would recommend nothing less than 3/16" steel plate for a truly hardcore skid. And carriage-head bolts with square-cut holes in the skid would be awesome and would be easy on-off, and would not get hung on anything because carriage-head bolts are rounded...

Yeah that's where I'm at price wise myself, I ain't spending more than $200 on a skid. Greg and the boys would have a good laugh if I told them to build me one for $150-$200. That Rubicon take that @Buzzlb mentioned might be a route for me depending on how it attaches.

Well, I had to remove my stock Rubicon skid to put on my FF bumper... So... I don't have many options...or any other for that matter. If they can make something keep me updated.

That bumper looks very similar to the EAG one that I installed.

The differences though are that mine is one piece. All welded. Your overrider gets bolted on. I dont care for that. Also, mine works with my stock Rubicon skid plate. And it was a lot less money.

Just some food for thought.

I looked at the one you like again, the shackle mounts get bolted too. I wonder why they did it that way.

It adds more pulling power because they mount directly to the frame instead of being welded. Also I like the fact that I can remove the hoop if I want and run just the bumper, plus that bumper I'm looking at has the high clearance ends that go all the way up to the bumper for a little more protection. Not knocking your bumper though, it's nice, I looked at a EAG bumper and was considering one, but I really like this Rugged Ridge bumper. I'm pretty sure after watching a few videos on the Rugged Ridge bumper it will work with a Rubicon Skid plate and I got lucky enough to find one last night for $50 locally. I just need to see how it bolts onto the JT so I can confirm. If someone could snap a picture of where it mounts that would be great.

Anyone got a answer on if the JL Rubicon metal skid will fit on the JT, I'm assuming it will but just wanted to confirm. The one I found is off a JL

So your saying that the bolts that hold the shackle mounts are also holding the bumper on? I dont know about more pulling power, but I hear what your saying. .

No they don't hold they Bumper on, they just attach where the hooks attach on the stock Bumper. They Bumper attaches the same as the stock Bumper.
