Smartcap and Rod Vault

I'm looking for info on mounting a Thule Rod Vault on top of a Smartcap. Anyone done this?
The easy way would be to use load bars but my garage door may prevent that. I'm looking at possibly using the t-slot to mount directly to.
Unfortunately there are zero dealers around to go take a gander and I'm not willing to take a gamble without looking for myself.

No firsthand experience, but what is the width of the Rod Vault and what is the distance between the cap and the bottom of the load bars? Or do you have the load bars that stick slightly out from the smart cap that the Vault can be mounted under? A lot of load bars have the track on the underneath too so maybe that’s an option?
