I have owned my Gladiator for a couple months now and I am really loving it. BUT, every time I fill the tank with gas it spits gas before the nozzle shuts off. I have tried slowing the flow when the tank is near full but it never fails that it spits gas out which runs down the fender. Do any of you guys have the same problem and a possible solution?

There have been a few other posts about this. The only fix, that I'm aware of, is to replace the filler neck. You should be able to get it repaired under warranty, if it happens at every fill.

There are some lengthy threads on this. My 2020, purchased used, did the same thing initially. I had the filler neck replaced under warranty a couple of years ago. After that work, if I center the pump nozzle in the filler hole and blast fuel in full pressure, it will shut off properly without overflow. If the pressure from the pump is noticeably low (some stations just are that way), I will get overflow. So now I only get overflow if I'm traveling and encounter low pressure at the pump nozzle and still try for a full tank. Replacing the filler neck definitely helped, because before that, I got overflow every time no matter what I did.

That's crazy this has been an issue on Jeeps for 20+ years.

On my '05 the solution was to drop the tank and reach in through the fuel pump hole and remove the check valve at the base of the filler neck and grind down the ridges on the float. They swell up from the ethanol and bind. Did it years ago and it hasn't splashed out or kicked off early since.

I don't know if it's still the same or a similar issue now but that's pretty ridiculous.

Our JTR spits up now and then, fast or slow pump speed, filler pointed up slope or down slope. When it does happen, I can hear gurgling in the filler neck, burp burp burp.

I learned to make a bib with the gas station paper towels, like two or three is enough, at the bottom of the nozzle + filler. This is with the evap return nozzles in CA. If no evap return, I use a couple more paper towels.

It is not enough of a problem for me to leave the truck at the dealer for however long.

I had that problem with my 05 Liberty every time I fueled, but never with the Gladiator.

My 23 gladiator has this issue and it's everytime I fill up. I plan to wait for the recall work to be done on the dash issue and then have the filler neck changed then.
