Reading this thread about the tailgate has me worried. I was rear ended in Nov. Only now got approval for the repair and I cant get into the shop until 3/11. Anyways my tailgate was fine UNTIL, I got tires put on like 2 weeks ago. I told them not to use the gate. I will lift the tires out. "oh dont worry about it, we'll get some guys in the bed and lift them out". NOPE, discovered they attempted to open in, bending the corner of the tail gate. Though irritated, figure no biggie, the shop can fix it since they will have to paint it anyways. Now im worried they wont be able to get it prefect and I'll see the bend.

Got the JT fixed up with replacement bed, and instead of bobing I made an high clearance all steel bumper with integrated hitch.

Find or build (or have built) a nice aluminum flatbed. Gain big clearance!! I would!

Bumper started as 5 in channel, then nested frame rails to heavy angle, some 5/16 plate and few brackets and the hooks from Ballistic fab. I wanted to gain departure clearance. Gained 5 inches and can high life the truck from sides and rear that would do nothing but scratch the paint - which is rattle can rustolium bed liner
