I have a question in to the support team at softopper already... but they are pretty slow for anything these days so I thought I'd run it past you guys

I ordered the utility clamps, but I have the Lowe's DIY rails... and guess what, of course it doesn't work quite right with what they sent

So if you don't mind take a look at the pics and give advice on what i should do!

See there's no way for them to catch on to the rail :(

but there is a bit of metal that it does catch on inside...

and it looks pretty jacked up when all tightened down

but it seems to sit pretty straight and fairly tight

Do I trust it? Do I not?

Is there something I can do to make it better? or Have Softopper send me the other clamps, would those even work with my rails?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for any input!

It looks like you have the narrow rail installed, you will need the one that is about an inch deep, to better reflect the trail rail system. Once the rail is swapped the clamps should fit.

I would not trust that inside rail. Those clamps should not be sitting that loose. It needs to be tightened down fully in order to withstand the winds from driving. Good luck on finding a solution, I love my Softopper and it's clamped down pretty tight.

Well I ended up modding the brackets a bit... Seems to fit and hold pretty tight!

Lol, dont drive around like that. Obviously you ordered or they sent you the wrong clamps. It looks like they work fine if you didnt have the utility rails installed. Call them and ask them to send you the right brackets.

Nvm, I didnt notice that you had the lowes rails. You will have to modify the rails or replace the rails.

I have the solution, place spacers behind the rails where the bolts are so they come out to the point the clamps will work. Goodluck.
