for y'all that upgraded to the 6.5" speaker in the sound bar why did you pick the enclosure adaptor you did? I found three options and was trying to figure out the benefits and drawbacks of each. My plan right now it to mount the JBL Club component 6.5 & tweeter.

Options:

Select increments

Metra JP-1015

SSV JJT-SA065

Metra and SSV look pretty identical and require some cutting but don't decrease headroom. SI only mod is some drilling but decreases headroom. Appears that all 3 have enough real estate for a separate tweeter installation on the face of the adapter.

I used the 1015 in my wife's JLU and she's happy with the results. Just don't expect a ton of sound output increase unless you go amplified. I did fosgate 3" dash speakers, 6.5" sound bar speakers, and 4" under dash speakers in hers. The only difference now is you can turn it up higher without having distortion.

If you get the Metra just make sure you have all the correct parts before doing anything... I installed the right side after cutting and whatnot, then when I moved to the left side I found that two right sides came in the box, so I had to wait for another one to be shipped out while having a huge hole in the soundbar that my wife wasn't happy to see

I used the Metra kits, front and rear. Everything went together just fine. Not sure what the Select Increments mean on magnet clearance fpr the 6.5/6.75 units. I have some old Boston Pro 6.5's in there with the Metra and there is still plenty of clearance. The 6.5's have very large magnets and baskets.

I went with the MB Quart JE1-169SB 6x9 adapter. It requires cutting, but has much improved mid-bass over the factory Alpine speakers.

did you use a crossover in the sound bar or did you wire the tweeter separately using both sets of factory wiring?

Neither, I plugged in each individually and didn’t notice any difference so only one channel per side is being used.

On the Alpine system you have to wire separate as the lines form the amp are already crossed over. If you just use one you will lose highs or lows if you just hook up one of them.

Which is why I asked how they connected it. My plan is to use both sets of wires; one to the mid and one to the tweeter.

I don't believe that the SI kits require you to cut out the existing soundbar structure which creates limited space. They get their space by hanging lower than the existing setup.

Makes sense then.

Whether or not you have to do any modification to the soundbar with the Select Increments adapters will vary depending upon the magnet size and back depth (including the varying depth and contour of the basket/frame of the speaker) of the 6.5 driver you choose to use.

The speakers that S.I. sells as complete sets with their adapters should fit without having to modify the soundbar. Anything else, what you need to do may vary substantially. Some aftermarket 6.5 speakers are designed with pretty minimal back real estate that'd work fine - others are much more bulky in the back.
