I finally got a 5th Gladiator Rubicon Rim to put my spare tire on.

If I mount it under the bed, will the finish on the rim get damaged?

Also looking for ideas for possible bed mounting that doesn't block the rear view. All the bed mount options I see mount high and block the view out the back window.

Anybody know of an option? I like the way the Rugged Ridge attaches the front of the bed, but I want the tire lower in the bed.

This works for Me-If You look at the rear window of the Gladiator a Good Portion is Blacked out anyway and this Mount in No Way blacks it out. WILCO Bed Mount. No Problems Works WELL!

I've had a 5th OEM wheel under the bed for about 15k miles now and it has been fine. Been down rock roads, desert trails, etc. I could see it dragging if you drag the tail on rocks. But the finish is fine on the wheel. Also have a 2013 F350 with an OEM polished/cleared wheel and 37" tire under the bed. I have had it that way since about 2014 and the finish is fine.

Pretty side up under there. I need my tonneau cover.

Why waste bed space when the Gladiator is designed to carry the 5th wheel under the bed. If you are concerned with the finish getting damaged why not plastidip it. You stated it is your spare, that means you will not be rotating it. Plastidip peals right off.

Under the bed, the only part of the wheel that will contact the vehicle is the back side of the hub bore. So no, the finish of the "Pretty" side of the wheel will not be damaged.

ALSO... when stowing the spare, ALWAYS pretty side up.

Agreed with stowing it under the bed. I've even managed to but my 37" spare up under there by airing it down to 20#.

If you are worried about the finish, there have already been some suggestions but you could also cut a piece of plywood, UHMW, cardboard, whatever and place it against the face of the wheel to prevent damage to the finish; pretty side up or down.

I also like the plasti-dip idea but a simple piece of cardboard and pretty side up should be easy.
