Wow is this thing loud on the highway. I am wondering if it is worth upgrading to the premium soft top.

I had a 2010 JKUR with the std top. It was loud. Ordered the gladiator with the premium top. Night and day difference from the vinyl top. Can hold a conversation with your passenger. Can listen to music. Well worth the extra price for the twill top

I've never ridden in the standard soft top, but I bought a premium from a member here and I am extremely impressed. It's very close to the hard top in terms of noise.

I drove mine back home from the dealership over 350 miles away and didn't think twice about the noise (this is my first Jeep btw). But, once I started driving my family around, and they mentioned how loud it was, I started to notice it a bit more. All things considered, it isn't too bad unless I'm traveling at highway speeds and it's a bit windy. But, during those times, yea, it can definitely be hard to carry on a conversation at normal volumes.

I've been considering the Hothead headliner which I'm told helps with noise and insulation. However, it needs to be removed before the top can be opened, which kind of defeats the purpose of the soft top for me which is the ability to open and close it at a moment's notice. Still, I might get one to run during the colder seasons where I know I won't be opening the top anyways. Might be worth a look as it's far cheaper than getting a whole new soft top!
