Stock Spare tire Bracket

Guys need a favor. Ive been looking through hundreds of threads to find an answer.
I purchased some AEV wheels and I cant fit the spare tire bracket through the center hole on the wheel. Ive seen some threads on people modifying theirs to work with aftermarket wheels. Does anyone have some details or is there an aftermarket bracket that we can install? I really dont want to lose bed space to carry around a spare. Picks would be great! I was going to grind this thing down.

I ran into the same problem recently. All I could gather from the interwebs was grinding a notch in the factory bracket to allow the cable to slip through it so the bracket can fit through the smaller bore size of the AEV wheels. I went back to my stock steel wheel under the bed for the time being . Will probably cut the bracket at some point…

Thanks man. Thats what I figured. I’m going to use a grinder and do it a little bit at a time.

I have AEV Savegre II. I just layed the bracket on its side on concrete and hit it a few times with a 3 pound sledge hammer. Slides right through now.

Not sure what wheel type you ought from the AEV line but I have a set of their wheels, Salta XR's and Milestar 37's on my JT and the wheels work fine with the spare tire carrier. I wouldn't say the lifting device falls right thru the center hole easily but it does go thru okay at the right angle and works fine. Give it another try.
