I installed a 2.5in lift and 35x12.50-17 tires on stock wheels and the tires hit the bump stop brackets on the rear. I added 1.5in spacers all the way round to make them work. I cant stand to drive it because every little noise makes me think the spacer are going to fail. I have checked the torque at least 5 times in the last 500 miles. I am going to be ordering some wheels and was wondering if anybody has any pics and specs of their rides with wheels that dont stick out. ( I hate the rocks killing the side of my truck). What 17in wheels will accommodate 35x 12.50 with out hitting the bump stops and not sticking out to far. In my state if you drop a penny off the fender and it hits a tread , it will not pass inspection.

To keep the tire tread under the fenders, you will want a +18mm offset or greater. Anything less than +18 will put tread outside the fenders. I have +6mm and my tires are sticking out some, especially in the front.

Maybe you just need a narrower tire.

If the spacers are working right now, I'd just continue to run them. I have had them on my 2 door JK for 80K miles. Wheeled all over the country. No issues. Have the same type spacers on my SS Camaro - no issues in 25K miles. Four other Jeeps in my circle (JK on 35s, JK on 37s, JKU on 35s, JT on 37s) all have 1.5" spacers and have been wheeled coast to coast with no issues. Just gotta learn to trust them.

I like NV law. It just says fender that provide “adequate” protection and “minimize” spray. So Jeeps all over here have tires sticking out a number of inches. Basically you just have to have fenders. That is it.

“No person shall operate any motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle. This Section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from registration, nor to any other vehicles having an unladen weight of under one thousand five hundred pounds”.
