Looking for advise if I should push this any further. I received an email to rate how my jeep service was. This is not usually something out of the ordinary but I NEVER TOOK MY GLADIATOR IN FOR SERVICE. After looking in my account, I was able to see that a dealer in another state entered a service record on my VIN and actually used my jeep wave oil change and tire rotation certificate for someone else's gladiator. When I called up Jeep wave support, they were amazing and added back the "stolen" oil change and tire rotation and called the dealership to let them know but now there are two service records on my account that have double the mileage that my rig has. Jeep wave service asked the dealer to try to delete the records but they are still there. Now when I will go in for my first oil change, the dealer won't be able to enter the correct mileage since it will likely be less than is currently entered.

Should I leave this as is or keep pushing it with the dealer that entered it incorrectly to find a way to delete the entries since jeep wave service can't help any further? What would you do?

Push it man!
also what dealership did that, willing to list them? Do you think it was accidental or just somehow bypassing something to help a "buddy out" etc?
Giving the benefit of doubt and assuming that the VIN was just incorrectly entered.

Wondering if there's impact to the Carfax of the vehicle w/ this.
Mistaken service mileage on Carfax is not uncommon. So long as the major reporting milestones like vehicle inspect, registration renewal and sale show a linear normal progression, it is not usually flagged on a carfax report as a mileage discrepancy. Many times the carfax report will have a note to that affect on the actual discrepant service mileage input entry.

The vins all have similar numbers so somebody probably fat fingered it. I know my dealer gets my info from a scanner on the ODB port so they can’t make a mistake

As above I’d be more concerned with the other impacts, and would get it fixed. Sounds like with a little time jeep / #jeepcares is on it and it will get sorted... I would get it that far.

If this has been more than one time thing you might want to do some more checking of records of your vehicle VIN too. Prime example is my MJ title in GA. they screwed up the VIN then my name on it.

I'd sort it out. Beyond the carfax you gotta worry about insurance, dmv flagging odometer rollback, resale, etc.

I had my Ram have that issue and some idiot put in an extra 1 in the first space instead of 0 so I got an extra 100,000 miles on my carfax.

If you look at the entries, you'll see how neat it is... literally the record from 1 to the next was 100,000 extra miles then they had to correct it and deduct 100,000 miles but it was hell trying to explain that to buyers when I was trying to sell that truck.

Yeah, that was my concern as well -- though this new in it's service life and as future services show correct reading, it's somewhat of an understandable/easy to explain thing -- just get documentation.

Does Carfax pay the dealership for those service records? Do we have a way to opt-out of the reporting to Carfax?

no to the opt out— it’s not considered personal information. I don’t think carfax pays dealers.

As I understand it, once information is in the Carfax database, it's there permanently. My son traded in his Mustang for a Subaru a couple of years ago. Monthse earlier, the Mustang had been rear-ended just hard enough to scuff the bumper. It required minor work to fix the paint. Yet, when the dealer pulled the Carfax, it listed "SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE". Of course the dealer used this bit of misinformation to attempt to lowball the trade-in allowance.

The sales rep was being pretty cool about it. It was the sales manager that was busting my son's chops. The sales rep advised he had tried to help customers get erroneous Carfax data corrected and never got anywhere. It's a case of Carfax simply not giving a hoot.

In the end, I told the rep we were going to politely decline the trade-in offer. We got up to leave and, magically, the sales manager significantly increased the amount he was willing to give my son for his Mustang. Imagine that.
