As far as heat loss and gain, I think Bestop or somebody did a series of tests and pretty much proved that the differences were minimal.
I do remove mine around Thanksgiving and put it back around early to mid April. It's garaged, and we haven't seen an appreciable snowfall since I've had it, but I am hopeful for this year.

I installed my Sunrider over two years ago and stored my freedom panels in the basement. They're still in the basement! I have found the Surider to be great in all types of weather...including snow.

Lunentucker is correct...I have seen a YouTube video that did a side by side test of hardtop vs Sunrider in cold weather and found negligible difference.

As far as maintaining the twill Sunrider, I use this:

I use it every three months, and the twill still look brand new.

They also offer a kit for the vinyl version:

My concern is the weight of a heavy wet snow we often get here in the Northeast. Has anyone had any issues of the Softtop "stretching" from the weight of slushy wet snow?
Also, I'd imagine the Hothead Headliners would help somewhat in terms of the insulation - both summer and winter.

Do people remove the sunrider top for the winter and put the freedom panels back on? I bought my gladiator used with it installed and have the two panels for the hardtop
Just took mine off for the winter. The high altitude winter here in CO can be brutal and mild all in one day.

I’m a Connecticut native - so I get what you’re asking. I live in Virginia now, so the storms are not as severe.
First year with the Sunrider, we had a very wet, heavy 9”+ snow…several more lesser snows - ice storms since then.
I also drove back from the OBX in an unusually sever snow storm for 7 hours going through NC and VA - felt completely comfortable with the Sunrider.
As I said earlier - my Sunrider after two years of heavy use a looks brand new - smooth without even a hint of a wrinkle.

If you have the twill top, even if it stretches a bit, the first time it gets wet and then dries in the sun it will shrink back up.

I'm from Western Pennsylvania and I took mine off last week and this is a good time to clean the twill and waterproof it for next year :)
This is interesting. I've owned a twill topped convertible of some sort for 40 years and have never once waterproofed any of them and never had leaks.
