I am thinking of getting a Sunrider top. Last night it was not supposed to rain even though it was cloudy. So I took the freedom panels off and left them home and went to my hockey game. I covered the steering wheel with a garbage bag just to be safe.

Anyway, it rained of course, not to hard but my seats were wet. Thank god I covered the steering wheel (clock spring is not water proof). Jeep is ok no issues so far.

So my question is how hard is it to remove the Sunrider top? I like to take the whole top off from time to time. If it is time consuming to take it off and put it back on m, I will just wait for the sun bonnet to be available or a soft top.

Wait, what? I'm sure it's water resistant, right? I would have never thought it couldn't take a little rain. If that's the case I gotta keep some Glad bags in the glove box for a rainy day:rain:

I am not sure if the newer jeeps clock spring is not water resistant. I know my 2011 jku I left it in the rain and fried my clock spring. The lights went on and off. Horn just honked it was crazy.

Since then i always have a garbage bag in my Jeep just in case

I visited the Bestop booth at the Bantam Jeep fest just to check out the sunrider top. The rep said that it only takes a few minutes to remove the top and it does need to be removed to access the 2 front bolts for the hardtop.

Here's the cheapest I've found them, Bestop does offer a 10% discount for forum members.

I'm hoping Quadratech will match this price since I can get it by tomorrow if I order from them.

We have one on our JKU and its easy but a pain in the a$$ at the same time. We have an alien sunshade and to get the grommets to line up and get the freedom top bolts(these secure the top in the back just like the freedom top bolts on the freedom tops) to start is a test of patience

I had the Sunrider for Hardtop installed on my JLU for a while and I just switched it over to the JT. Fits like a glove.

There are 6 small torx bolts to install/remove the Sunrider. Piece of cake.

It doesn't open up quite as far as the Sunrider on the full soft top, but that's just part of the limitations of the design.

We pull ours off for the summer and just use the freedom tops if we need to put the top back on for rain or something. but run the sunrider for when the top will be on for a long time because sometimes you get pretty days

Update.

Called the dealer where I got the Jeep and they have the sun bonnet it stock. I will be getting it today or tomorrow. That’s exactly what I was looking to get. And at 250 bucks it is cheap for a Jeep part lol

Ask about the 15% discount on Mopar parts.

I kind of curious about this also, I read the install instructions and I couldn't find if you can keep this on under the hard or soft top.
